We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.
If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

He was one of the top - if not THE top - CBs in FA. Everyone who has signed thus far - even at positions less valued than corner - has well exceeded expectations. We’re absolutely going to sign him and it’ll absolutely look like an overpay. There’s no other way to get this done. We’ll be trading the Ford injury risk for the Darby injury risk, but the latter fits into the vision longer term. I can cope. No free lunches this offseason, folks. [Reply]

You think Bashaud Breeland's getting $35 million? Spotrac does.
The nearest comp for Darby according to Spotrac is Nelson. If you can get him for what Nelson signed for, of course you do that.
To be honest I was basing it off the safety contracts which in hindsight was a mistake [Reply]

Depends on what you believe.
Is Steven Nelson the piece of shit that most of CP thinks he is?
Or is he a pretty steady, if flawed, #2 corner.
If you think the latter...well there's an argument that Darby shouldn't get much more than Nelson if he can't stay on the field and when you don't know how his knee will EVER recover. [Reply]
I agree that if we sign Darby it needs to be a 2-3 year deal.
I'm just not convinced we're getting a player that will be 100% healthy when the season starts, and during the season. He tore his ACL pretty late in the season.
So if im taking a flyer on him, i want him for multiple years. I don't want to sign an 80% Darby for 2019 only to see 100% Darby walk out the door in 2020. [Reply]

You truly are a miserable pillowbitergot.
Well yea, the guy tore his ACL in November. He's probably not going to be ready by training camp or even week 1. What should be built into the price is how much value can you actually get out of him in year 1? He's a good player and if he was healthy this is a no brainer. But they just cut Chiefs fan favorites for being overpaid and injured and if you want to repeat the cycle by all means. [Reply]
The AP trainer dude who used to work in the NFL says that if his physical checks out well, he should be ready by camp and possibly part of OTAs. So I don’t think it’s necessarily a huge risk there. [Reply]
Darby will probably get a little less than Nelson. Thats my guess and it makes sense. If he were going to command top dollar he would have went in the first wave of signings. [Reply]
