Kansas dropped out of The Associated Press men's college basketball poll for the first time in 12 years on Monday, ending the Jayhawks' record streak of 231 consecutive weeks ranked in the Top 25.
The Jayhawks began their Top 25 streak on Feb. 2, 2009, when freshman guard Bryce Thompson was 6 years old. Their decade-plus of dominance, which began the season after winning the national championship, included 10 consecutive Big 12 regular-season titles, five conference tournament titles, two more Final Four trips and a runner-up finish in 2012.
Just an absurdly absurd run of excellence the likes of which we'll never see again at this level. [Reply]

I will always wonder what could have been in 2009, had our stars from 2008 pulled a Florida wanted to go back to back
A starting lineup of
Sherron Collins
Mario Chalmers
Brandon Rush
Darrell Arthur
Cole Aldrich
With a bench of:
Tyshawn Taylor
Marcus Morris
Markieff Morris
Travis Releford
Tyrell Reed
Brady Morningstar

That would’ve been a hell of a team.
I mean that would have been the best NCAA team ever. The 2008 team already has an argument for that as it is (if you believe in KenPom, they have the second best AdjEM rate of any team in his 20 years of modelling, second only to the 2015 UK team that ended up losing to Wisconsin in the FF). I think I like that 2009 lineup better than 2008’s actual lineup. More scoring pop with Sherron running the point. Aldrich as a sophomore was a better rim protector than anyone on the 2008 team too.
Pretty much zero weaknesses in that lineup. [Reply]
DMAC played a really good game in the 2nd half from an Offensive standpoint.
CB was hitting his shots and Garrett actually played with some control.
OSU didnt play well. Both teams sloppy but KU gets the win.....
18 turnovers is not gonna beat any good teams.
Need to beat the Booclones back to back.... [Reply]
Unclear to me why OSU was ranked this week after losing to TCU last week. KU hasn’t had a loss anywhere near that bad all season and fell out of the top 25 for them. [Reply]

Texas is a top 5 team? They've lost 3 straight games and 4 of 5 and have fallen off a cliff of late.
The shit loss to TCU (which is probably not among the top 100 teams in the country) should have more than balanced that out, but it was apparently ignored. [Reply]
Texas' best wins of the season were against WVU and KU. Their only other even good wins are over Indiana and OSU. Shaka's team has sneakily been incredibly overrated this season (probably based on the blowout win at AFH over a team that has since clearly been exposed as mediocre). [Reply]
