Alright Planeteers, I've been arguing on message boards with people about this off and on for a couple years now and I want to get CP's input on it. The question is this: Who would win in a fight between Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson in his prime? Let's hear it! [Reply]

Get the **** out of here.
Sorry that here isn't a whole lot of footage.
You can see where it isn't blacked out in the replay.
But hey, you can believe what you want to believe. But whatever. I don't care what you think lol [Reply]

Maybe we rented it then. Or borrowed the tape from someone who had the pay-per-view. I was a little kid. I just remember watching the RR after Tyson/Douglas. [Reply]
This comic book shit is hilarious. One guy claiming Lee was a boxing champion in addition to being bullet proof with xray vision and the ability to fly. Like children... [Reply]
I just think many of you are underestimating what Bruce could do in a no rules situation.
Yes, he gives up a lot of size and strength... but I firmly believe he would get in and out with strikes on Tyson, and no amount of Mike lumbering around trying to grab or tackle him would work.
Mike wouldn't be able to hit the guy, atleast not cleanly, period [Reply]

Mike Tyson is big, strong, and had a fast punch for a boxer. Bruce Lee was on another level with speed, combination kicks, and the like that we may never see again. Bruce Lee's accuracy with his contact was ridiculous. He could take a black belt out in about 3 seconds, and you think Mike fucking Tyson would last longer? And somehow people think that a guy that practiced with a metal filled punching bag would not be able to knock Mike the fuck out... Hahahaha. You're talking about the single greatest martial artist to ever live, against a boxer. Incredible. I'd put money on Chuck Norris over Mike Tyson, and Bruce Lee was twice as good.
The bolded statement is not established as a fact. He was not a competitive prize fighter. The problems with supporting this showman who was not actually a fighter spiral out from that fundamental belief. [Reply]

Again, leg kicks between fighters of roughly equal size let alone 100 pounds lighter, take a while to be effective. Lee can't whip in there, *crack crack* and suddenly Tyson can't move, it takes dozens of kicks over several minutes, during which Lee has to avoid a clinch or he's done. I've seen a lot of Muay Thai fights where one fighter is good at leg kicks and is going in against someone who doesn't know how to defend against it, and it still takes a while.
You said the strongest Tyson support comes from people who don't know Lee, but I would argue that the strongest Tyson support here is coming from people who watch A LOT of MMA fights every year, and most of us aren't impressed by boxers, but Lee is just not beating Tyson.
Maybe you weren't paying attention when the mythology of the legendary unbeatable martial artist was thoroughly crushed, but its been exposed as mostly bullshit. [Reply]

But this is a hypothetical streetfight, you talk about modern MMA but remember... there are many techniques that Lee could use that have been forbidden in MMA because of how dangerous they are. [Reply]

Lee doesn't know secret heart-exploding forbidden punches. Tyson is just as likely (probably more so) to fishhook, bite, or eye gouge in a street fight. The no rules aspect of this situation does not give Lee an added advantage.
If you put Tyson against a grappler or a jiu-jitsu black belt, I'm betting strongly against Tyson, but the people arguing for Lee here are thinking he's going to beat Tyson with these magical lightning-fast, powerful kicks and strikes. [Reply]
