I will bet you $5 that Preston plays this year. [Reply]

Do you know something I don't? I know sometimes people have their "inside info" here, but if he can't explain how he got that car, how can they let him play? [Reply]

I don't understand why its so important to make a prediction about this. They sent in their package to the NCAA just prior to the holiday break, they'll make a decision about it soon. How do you know something can't be explained? You have zero information about it except that there is a question about it. Self seems to feel "confident" about it.
Its not like the NCAA has had the info on this and are dragging their feet because it is some irreconcilable event. [Reply]

I'm not going out of my way to make a prediction, but I've just put the guy out of my mind this season until somebody provides me a reason to believe he's actually going to play. I feel that's the best way to treat this situation given what we know about it.
Self was just as "confident" and "optimistic" during the Cliff Alexander saga, so his public statements in this regard don't mean too much to me. [Reply]

Well, that's fine and all, but Darnell Jackson received a nine game suspension, not the entire year, for an improper benefit. Why would lose Preston for the full year, if that is the case? Alexander case was just odd all around. [Reply]

Because the punishment for that is sitting out something like 15 games and he's sat for 13 already? I think it's something like that. [Reply]

Alexander and his family refused to cooperate with the investigation. So very different scenario. [Reply]

I think it's pretty likely that Preston and De Sousa both play. And pretty likely that KU will be as good as any team out there by March.

Now there are obvious differences here between Alexander and Preston, but Self basically uses the same phraseology whenever one of these eligibility problems comes up. [Reply]

So treat this as nothing because it just as well be. But my buddy has a guy he works with that has a daughter in the AD somewhere (see, basically nothing) that said whatever he did wrong there is typically a 10 game penalty for and he’s served 9.
Take it for what it’s worth - basically nothing. [Reply]

Thanks, I guess we'll find out what that's worth in a week's time. [Reply]
