Nzoner's Game Room>So it’s really just the Steelers [or Bills] right?
RunKC 09:41 PM 09-28-2020
I mean goddamn this conference seems wrapped up doesn’t it? Not trying to jinx us but it really seems like injuries are our biggest opponent at this point.

The Ravens are fucking frauds. They’re a warm up for us. We literally made these guys look like the JV squad the last 2 meetings.

And sure the Bills and Titans may make us work for the win, but in all honesty we have to play pretty goddamn shitty to lose to those guys.

In order to have any shot at beating us you need 3 things:

1. Elite pass rush
2. Top 10 QB capable of making critical plays
3. Overall talented roster

Steelers are the only team in the AFC that has those 3 things, and even them it’s not like they’re some serious threat like the Patriots a couple years back, but they seem like the best of the rest.

I think at this point it would be disappointing for this team to not get to the SB 3 straight times.

We’re just that good, and we keep drafting well and get better and better.

It's so fucking unfair that the NFL won't let QBs run around behind the line of scrimmage before they throw it. It really sucks that they have to take their drop and then can only throw it or stand there like a statue waiting to get hit. It means if you don't have the best OL money can buy and you face good pass rushers you have no chance.

They should really change the rule. It's ruining the game, and it gives us zero shot against a team of slapdicks like the Steelers even though we have the best QB.

As bad as everybody says the offensive line is, the Chiefs are still 6th in the league in pass protection because of Patrick Mahomes.

The bigger issue is probably the chance of Mahomes getting injured behind a bad offensive line while he is making one of those awesome plays.

He could get injured at any time. He's not going to stop running around, even if the offensive line is good. That's part of his game.

Seriously, this is just silly.

Best thing to stop HOF elite QB’s is pass rush. Tom Brady vs Giants, Manning vs Steelers, Ravens and Jets (I believe one time). That also hurt us last year when Erving was playing for Fisher.

This is effectively saying Mitchell Schwartz doesn’t matter. He does. A whole ****ing lot. When he’s healthy he’s the best RT in the league.

Being able to put a tackle 1v1 with any pass rusher helps the offense so goddamn much.

Nobody said he doesn't matter.

YOU said "we're screwed".

That's ridiculous talk. Silly.

Could they be better? Yes. Could Pittsburgh's pass rush cause issues? Certainly.

But this team is NEVER screwed.

Seemed the Raiders screwed us. Not that I expected us to go undefeated, but I truly believe that team was created in the manner it was. To beat us.

I'm truly not worried about any other team in the AFC.

Against normal teams? Nah. Against elite defenses with the best pass rush in the league? You’re in MAJOR trouble. Btw that was in response to SNR’s post. Not sure why I quoted you.

Without Schwartz this offense doesn’t hit optimum efficiency against good defenses. With Mitch you can double another player at all times. Imagine Dee Ford against Mike fucking Remmers? :-)

Pat would definitely have been hit more and likely had another turnover and we likely lose bc of it.

Pat is the difference maker, but will not make up for serious deficiencies against great teams. Some of you guys think he’s just gonna win all of these games bc he’s Pat.

We saw it with Favre. We saw it with Manning. Brady, Marino, Rodgers, Wilson. These guys are great but it’s a team game.

Not certain that the Raiders have screwed us in any way shape or form.

First, let's assume that the Raiders beat the Donks this week (which is far from an absolute), they will be 6-3, a whole two games behind us, even with the earlier win against us.

Second: as of right now, they are 5-3, but have a negative point differential. How long is that going to hold up?

Third: In our game with them earlier, we were up 14-3, and again 21-10 in the first half, and tied at halftime....generally, I'd take that every time, and if that happens again this coming game, it's likely not going to be pretty for the Fade

Fourth: I think our offense pressed way too much to go downfield in this game, instead of taking what was given to them, or a shorter, ball control game. Credit to the Fade for making the plays that they did, but this just seemed like a game where the short underneath stuff was there, be we continued to chuck it down field.

Fifth: At the time, the Bills game was supposed to be played on Thursday night, but due to Covid, it was uncertain. As of that Sunday, it was "if Bills play Tuesday, the KC game will move, but if Bills don't, then game is on for Thursday"....In short, the Chiefs probably had to allocate prior week time to prep for Bills on Thursday night as well as Raiders on Sunday. This time, we have 2 weeks of prep time to focus on beating them down.

Sixth: In hindsight, the Mahomes pick in that game was returned to the KC 1, and Oakland scored again to go up two TDs. Yet, we still managed to score another TD, and were a 4th down conversion from getting the ball back with a chance to tie. Not saying we should have punted in that situation, but I think the reality is that we had more time than what we really had, so we certainly could have punted and tried to make a D stand. Of course, D wasn't playing well in the second half, so hard to argue with the call, but maybe something a little different since we only needed 7 yards at that point....

So, you say the Raiders ruined us, I say the Raiders did exactly the same thing that the Panthers tried to do to us: They threw their entire playbook at us in hopes of stealing a game, and they did. Kudos to them, and they earned a bus trip around Arrowhead....So what?

If you think that is going to work again, or that the Chiefs are just somehow not going to adjust to that this next go round is ludicrous. That doesn't mean the Fade can't or won't win, but I expect a much different game this time around. I expect us to come out and flex our muscles a little bit this time around instead of coasting through a game that they were up big early....

That team surprised us, nothing really more to it than that.

The Chiefs still scored 32 points. On any normal day with this defense, that's enough to win.

He's won against the Chargers multiple times. He beat THE best pass rush in the game last year in the Super Bowl.

Will the Steelers front be tough? Sure.

"Major trouble"? That's fear porn dude. Stop.

I'm curious to watch the Steelers / Bengals this week, because I think the Bengals can pose a lot of problems for Pitt. Burrow can throw the ball, and while the Bengals D is very Cowboys-esque, their issue is more on the front end, where the Boys have a lot of back end issues. If Burrow can keep from making rookie mistakes, I think they can be competitive and give Pitt a handful....

I think once the Steelers drop a game, we're going to see some more Ls along the way....they look like a 12-4 / 13-3 team to me, but to expect them to go 5-3 or 4-4 the rest of the way doesn't make sense at this point (but they definitely won a couple games they shouldn't have up to this point, and that just doesn't ultimately hold up as the season gets longer and the playoff push comes around...)

The opposing QB's Pittsburgh has faced so far this season:

Daniel Jones
Jeff Driskel
Deshaun Watson
Carson Wentz
Baker Mayfield
Ryan Tannehill
Lamar Jackson
Garrett Gilbert

And most of those games... i.e. against Jeff Driskel and Garrett Gilbert were close.

You’re right man. If we have to play the Steelers with our current OL just throw in the fucking towel because WE ARE SCREWED!
