Meaning we can trade for him without paying him, then trade him in the off-season to a team that will pay him.

He's pretty much telling the chiefs, Ravens and Eagles to make the trade because he'll come relatively cheap

How is it a stretch? You don't think there's a reason he said that he's not worried about a contract right now? It's to make teams aware that they don't have to trade for him AND pay him which is what's stopping a lot of teams from making an offer.
