I cannot state strongly enough how excited I am about the Mike Matheny era in Kansas City.
I really cannot.
I've been assured by idiots that watch 2-3 innings of national league baseball per year that Matheny had a good winning percentage in St. Louis and we're all just spoiled.
Then again, Bernie spent the last 3 years making that same argument himself so maybe he oughta just sit this out a on occasion. [Reply]
Not much they can do about the starting pitching now. Martinez could replace Hudson when he’s ready but it won’t matter much. Scherzer could have and wanted to be a Cardinal but Mo went cheap on the offer. [Reply]

85 win team. Good enough to stay competitive through September but not a snowballs chance in hell to be a serious World Series contender. Thanks Mo [Reply]

Just walk him, God damn. Reminds me of the 13 world series where Matheny's dumb ass refused to pitch around Ortiz.
the smart play was to walk Yelich and then have Heisly come in with the option to have force out at any base situation. So why didn’t that happened? Matheny managing
Post game presser Schilt said he had to trust his guy to get the out. This was Heisly’s first appearance at the MLB level. Ever. You throw him in against the hottest hitter in baseball to prove you trust your guy? How about putting him in with bases loaded against Brain who has struggled against high octane fastballs? Wouldn’t that also be trusting your guy? [Reply]
