Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.
Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”
“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.
“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.
The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”
In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

My apologies. Please don't report my post.
Don't get your panties in a wad. I just found it interesting that you'd even bother to read a Superman thread since you apparently have no interest in the character. The fact that you'd bother to post in such a thread was even more interesting.
I wasn't going to report your post. I was planning to hunt you down in real life. :-) [Reply]
There is no way this will be a Batman versus Superman movie. Now, they may at some point bicker with each other, kind of like what went on in the Avengers movie, but in the end they will be working together to defeat whoever the real "Big Bad" is in the movie. [Reply]
In the Dark Knight Returns Part 2, Miller did a great job with the Batman/Superman fight. The Dark Knight Returns animated movies are definitely worth a watch. The basic tenet that Miller got across was that Batman's main advantage over Superman is that he will do whatever it takes to win, where Supes is constrained by all of his different rules. Plus, Bats gets a little aid in the fight near the end that completely turns the tables (thus doing whatever it takes). [Reply]
Dane mentioned the best solution. Bring back JGL as the new Dark Knight. That way it serves as a reboot and continues the continuity of the Nolan Batman people loved. [Reply]

Speaking of those lines, is that insinuating that they get into a fight and Batman wins? How is that fucking believable? Superman kills Zod, who is/was equally powerful, but a human in a bat suit with cute ninja skills can beat the most powerful superhero ever? Not buying it. That's fucking crazy. Comic book people should be shot for coming up with that. They should've had a MoS 2 with just Superman. [Reply]

It's from the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. [Reply]
