The Chiefs have released Berry with a post-June 1 designation, a source tells me. Means the Chiefs will save around $9.5m on the cap this year and $5.5m next year.

I'll be excited when they give us something to be excited about.
Right now we're just looking at the aftermath of a nuke. [Reply]

I may get flamed for this, but chronic pain is sometimes psychological. Berry has certainly been through hell and back that's for sure.
That said, at least the Chiefs handled it in a relatively classy way. [Reply]

Well they did a big video and promotion of his return. Then when he went back out again I guess they dropped him from all promotional materials. That was the point you knew they weren't thrilled.
By the end of the year it sure felt like Berry and Houston were just playing out their contracts w/o much fire. Although Houston rallied at the end of the year. But that kind of attitude is going to infect other players on the D. Players know when someone is just going through the motions and saying the right things vs. someone who is killing themselves to win a ring. [Reply]
hated to see him go out the way he did here. Could have been one of the greatest if it weren't for injuries and cancer and last season we just didn't know what the hell was going on. [Reply]
Eric Berry held $14.95M of dead cap this year. If that’s all take in 2019, it represents a cap savings of $1.55M for the #Chiefs. If he’s designated a Post 6/1 release, they’ll take on dead hits of $6.95M in 2019, & $8M in 2020, clearing $9.55M of cap this year.
