edit: Hill is getting $17M this year and Sammy is scheduled to get $21M. Something ain't right! And no one will trade for the right to restructure him.
I am not a cap expert but I thought, if Sammy gets traded, KC is on the hook for the $7 million cap it, and the team that trades for him absorbs the remaining $14 million cap hit. I may be wrong. [Reply]

Sign Jones, maybe give Watkins a 2-3 year deal where he gets more guaranteed money but less than $21M a year obviously. Backload Mahomes' contract so the first few years are easy on the cap.
Then about the time Kelce and Hill are slowing down - might have a few years of cleaning house/rebuilding.
Yep. Deal is Mahomes is young enough to be around for several rebuilds. [Reply]

Watkins is gone. We just have to hope we get something in return because cutting him shouldn’t be an option.
so you'd be fine with extending him and paying him an average of 2 million less per year than he's scheduled to get next year but stretching it out longer?

watkins doesnt make 21 million next year.
he makes 14, we've already paid him 7 in his signing bonus... [Reply]

thats right.
which i why i dont get that people are crying saying he's making 21 million next year.
he's making 14. the other 7 has already been paid and i'm not sure there is a way to get out from under that. [Reply]
Sammy has been dealing with some mental stuff for awhile. Seems like playing for Reid helped him a lot. I don’t think he will be a Chief next year unless he feels being with Reid is worth a huge pay cut. Hopefully he finds happiness in whatever he does [Reply]
Sammy was instrumental throughout the playoffs and big game
But if he, along with others, has to be a cap casualty in order to keep Sacksquatch Jones... then I’m all for it, secure in the belief that Andy and Brett can find a suitable replacement [Reply]

that doesnt make much sense to me.
That would make his first year (this year) cap hit drop by about 10m and keep future hits manageable.
Do that and get Jones inked to 5/90
Cut LDT
Re-sign Wis and Pennel...extend Fish and Kelce to clear space.
Draft well.
Repeat championship and aim for next offseason to get Mahomes done.
The cap is going to explode in the new CBA with tons of new money rolling in. [Reply]

Me neither. Probably from the same talking heads that said that Andy can't read a clock. Basically people that don't understand football on any level past HS. Or think that they know Andy Reid's schemes because they play Madden . . . [Reply]
