The last thing I heard about Prince was that he showed up at some random dinner theatre here, rolled out on stage unannounced to play guitar with the band for a number, then left. I've heard other stories from people who saw him on a flight or somewhere else or about him visiting local music stores in disguise and other stuff. A unique character. [Reply]

I remember reading a couple of months ago about his upcoming tour where he would play a very small, intimate venue, announced only maybe a day in advance, just him and a piano, with no setlist. He'd just play what he felt like that night.

The last time I saw him live was around 1997 at a VH1 Music Cares concert at the (then) Universal Amphitheater.
Sheryl Crow, Jakob Dylan and several other great live acts performed, with Prince closing out the show.
I've been to a metric shit ton of shows, whether they've been in clubs, theaters, amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums and I've never seen anything like Prince in my entire life.
I was just thinking a month or so ago, that I hoped they'd go get him to do the SB Halftime again. Since, you know, they can't get anyone worth a shit.
I never got too much into him, but he was fucking legit. [Reply]
