[Bickel] Hearing from several different people over last few days that Alex Smith is having devastating complications from his broken leg surgery battling infection. Supposedly he's had multiple surgeries to try to combat infection. Chances of him playing again in real jeaopardy.
While Smith had his limits, what i always appreciated with him is that he was always available to play. Rarely hurt. Sucks to see him have such a good run here, and not be able to continue it in Washington. [Reply]

Best of luck and prayers, Godspeed!
Lower body injuries are such a bitch; all that puss and blood and shit just settles into your feet and your heart does a lousy job of getting circulation down there.
I'm sure he's just stuck in that hospital bed with his foot above his head about 23 hours/day. And all he can do is sit there, be in pain and wait. That just has to be brutal as hell. [Reply]
#AlexSmith Infection always a worry with open fracture (where bone pokes thru skin from inside out), but with quick surgical action and antibiotics, osteomyelitis is rarely a long term complication. https://t.co/u4YAsnjfkR
