Taking the Chargers job is just silly. He’s going to be stuck with the cheapest owner in the NFL, in a much tougher conference that is filled to the brim with franchise QB’s. Being stuck in the same division as the richest owner in the NFL, who is just going to spend his dick off to hire another elite HC, doesn’t sound very appealing either.
I'm sorry, maybe I misread that; the ownership is going to "spend their dicks off" to hire ANOTHER elite head coach?

Who were these previous elite head coaches?

You donk fans DO realize that every team gets the same amount of money to spend on players as all the other teams, right? It's all in how you spend it. It's called a fucking salary cap.

It doesn't really fucking matter if the owner has octillion dollars while the other owners are only mere billionaires.

and no great proven coach wants to be hand-cuffed to Fat Russ with no first round picks for two years.

No matter how much money they throw at them.

And Payton? He got ONE SB win with a decade plus of Drew Brees. You think he wants to fuck around with Fat Russ? Who's own teammates hate him?

No fuckin' way.

Chargers are a much better job, they'll give him full control.

Fangio is going to want more than $4M :-)

I see a lot of Sean Payton-to-the-Chargers speculation, and there's no doubt SP would love to coach a talent like Justin Herbert. But such a move would be out of character for the Spanos ownership family. Brandon Staley makes $4M a year. Payton would cost 4-to-5 times that much.

If Spanos is satisfied with being mediocre, he could just hold what he has. The fact that they will likely move on means they'll loosen up the purse strings to try and break the curse

I’ll bet your take is a totally unbiased one, even though no national analyst agrees.

Archie wouldn't let Eli go there. There is something in that soup distasteful

I suspect that the overhead power lines are too close to his house or that the seal on his microwave is broken.

That Denver job is one of he worst situations I can remember in the last 10 years in the NFL.

It’s quite literally a worst case scenario for any incoming head coach.

That roster has legit 5 players that should be there in 2-3 years.
Their draft pick situation the next couple years is far less than ideal
WalRuss is going to severely limit what the team can do in terms of roster construction and improvement
The roster obviously dislikes WalRuss on a personal and professional level.
Multiple recent coaches fired in short order
Owner that is completely clueless to workings of the NFL

I think there are a lot of younger, cheaper options that the Chargers would look to first.

Ben Johnson, Shane Steichen, Kafka.

Hell, hiring another defensive coach, or keeping Staley, with Frank Reich at OC would work well for the Chargers.

The one place I don’t want Payton is with the Chargers

If he’s saying conference then he would be including Allen and Burrow. If he meant division, then that is a great point.
