Nzoner's Game Room>-- Let's talk about counting calories & routine
Simply Red 09:38 AM 03-29-2018
Hi Guys,

I'm up to a 36 waist - thanks to Del Taco and a few others. As well as eating pretty poorly over the last year, or so.

I'm on a strict regimen now and doing a three week diet and then merging it into a new way of life. I have a history of eating well (normally) - but, again; have been quite clumsy over the past year or so.

My plan is to limit myself to 1100 calories a day the first week, then up to 1200 the second week, and then stay on or around 1500 calories as the norm, with one cheat day per week.

After the third week - I'll get back into some sort of exercise, which too will be part of the new 'way of life'

In this thread I'd like to discuss food ideas for assisting myself (& others) with weight loss.

Since Monday I've not gone above 1100 calories/daily - I have eaten oatmeal, oranges, bananas, hard-boiled eggs and in closing, in the evening - I'll eat one of the Chick Fil A Spicy, grilled chicken wraps w/o dressing (350 cals)

I'm open to ideas - but the goal is - finding items that are a little less common and more creative.

Please assist at your leisure - anyone else need assistance or interested in jumping aboard, I welcome it.

Thanks again

I assumed so but still don't get it even as a joke.

It's brutal but it burns fat not muscle and is short term for summer.
back on track...........
Why worry about 4-5 lbs? I can lose or gain that in an afternoon. :-)

However, It does sound like a solid plan to lose 4/5 lbs. though.:-)

Now that BRC mentions my sig I get what you were driving at.

:-) Okay, now I'm laughing.

That's not terrorists in my sig waving those flags. It's the Syrian people. I switched the Syrian flags out for the Don't Tread on Me aka the Gadsden Flag as a twist. It's Syrian soldiers and part of a civilian women cheering how they survived the recent bombing and cheering the head of their govt, Assad. I had another photo of all civilians but it was too busy and would take too long to switch out all the flags. Those guys are fighting terrorists jihadis in their country.

That has to be water not fat loss. It would take me a month to lose that if I did a conventional diet. That is faster and takes a few weeks.

I'm petite, so 5 pounds can look like 10 on me.

My down day yesterday ended up at 480 calories. That resulted in another big drop in my average weight - down .4 lbs to 215.9. On to a 2500 cal up day today.

I have to admit that I've been fighting those "this should be going quicker" feelings which is dumb because it hasn't even been four weeks yet. I think I am mostly pissed at myself for not starting sooner. I played around with this before the holidays so I knew it would work. My plan was to to start after the holidays but when I got there, I convinced myself to do something else. Three months later, I was at the same weight as at the end of the year. Three months closer to summer with nothing to show for it. :-)

With kids activities, I haven't been able to work out much the past 10 days and I'm not sure I'm going to even get a chance to go this week. I'm still trying to be better about eating & not going crazy - but I have had some higher calorie days lately.

The one thing I've been really consistent on is cutting out the weekday evening beers at home. I've known for a loooooooong time that those beers were a big problem when it came to my weight.

So from week 1 to week 2 of cutting out beer, I lost 4.2 pounds - with was great & more than I expected.

From week 2 to week 3, I lost only .4 pounds. Less than I wanted, but still in the right direction.

From week 3 to week 4, I've lost another 2 pounds.

All in all, I'm down from 225 to 218.4 in 3 full weeks. This week I likely won't get in to exercise because of all the kids stuff unless I go really late, but I'm looking to get it started back up next Monday.

I've been jealous of people that can just cut out booze/beer and lose weight. I don't drink so have to cut pretty deeply into my food intake to lose weight. :-)

Does fitbit (or similar apps) break down the difference between calories burned exercising and the calories burned by staying alive? Just curious... showing the overall is of course useful, but wondered if it shows x calories burned yesterday exercising vs today, etc; as opposed to just the totals (since I believe the total will decrease with significant weight loss).

Mine would show a general calorie burn based on heart rate and then show a separate total if it determined you were exercising (increased heart rate). I don't think it broke out the difference between the exercise calories and what you would have burned just being alive, if that makes sense, but I'm not sure.

My Fitbit gives a grand total burned (exercise + don't die calories). I found some site that gave me a guess at what I burn with no exercise, but I'm not sure how accurate.

l use the under armor track my walk app. It synces with the my fitness app. Under Armour has a whole suite of free specific apps for each exercise with many options. Mine has specific cardio and strength exercises and reps that can be tracked.

My tracking weight is synced from the my fitness app. The app tracks how fast I’m moving and how many steps, miles I’ve traveled. Based upon my weight/speed/distance it tracks how many calories I’ve burned.

I sync that result up to the my fitness app. Some chose to put their exercise into their allowed calorie intake. Some don’t. I just use my exercise as icing on the cake. I still keep my food calories well below my goals.
