Nzoner's Game Room>-- Let's talk about counting calories & routine
Simply Red 09:38 AM 03-29-2018
Hi Guys,

I'm up to a 36 waist - thanks to Del Taco and a few others. As well as eating pretty poorly over the last year, or so.

I'm on a strict regimen now and doing a three week diet and then merging it into a new way of life. I have a history of eating well (normally) - but, again; have been quite clumsy over the past year or so.

My plan is to limit myself to 1100 calories a day the first week, then up to 1200 the second week, and then stay on or around 1500 calories as the norm, with one cheat day per week.

After the third week - I'll get back into some sort of exercise, which too will be part of the new 'way of life'

In this thread I'd like to discuss food ideas for assisting myself (& others) with weight loss.

Since Monday I've not gone above 1100 calories/daily - I have eaten oatmeal, oranges, bananas, hard-boiled eggs and in closing, in the evening - I'll eat one of the Chick Fil A Spicy, grilled chicken wraps w/o dressing (350 cals)

I'm open to ideas - but the goal is - finding items that are a little less common and more creative.

Please assist at your leisure - anyone else need assistance or interested in jumping aboard, I welcome it.

Thanks again

Been doing it for years but always pick up something new and interesting here and there and if I can give some advice that may help someone else I would love to.

I am a firm believer in you can do anything you really WANT to do especially if given he tools to help get you there. Doesn't mean its easy, just that most anything is accomplishable (within reason, for example I will never be a NFL QB no matter what I do).
I agree with the premise that people can not be fat if they choose to no longer be fat. Assuming they don’t have a very rare disease.

I quit smoking pot. Doing drugs. Smoking tobacco after 13 years first time l tried. I was an athlete and a badass up until 30. I think in my head I had more important stuff in my life than worrying about my weight. It wasn’t lack of willpower or access to the tools to be successful.

Ended up at 2000 calories yesterday. I didn't purposely try to go 500 calories under my target but dinner was shrimp and Moroccan Sweet Potatoes and it ended up being very filling while being pretty low cal. I had a big drop on my average weight this morning - down .6 lbs to 216.3 lbs. On to a 500 cal down day today.

I don't know if anyone is interested in macros but yesterday I was at 56% carb, 32% protein and 12% fat.

Looks like mine averages 47% carb, 28% protein and 24% fat.

Staying 800-1000 calories under daily goal. Exerising 500-1000 calories a day not included. My sodium is way over the goal. One issue I'll have to tackle later.

My tracker freaks out about my sodium (and I don't track added salt) but I don't worry about it. If I cut back at all, I get terrible calf cramps during the night.

My macros are generally close to yours - around 50% carb, 20-30% protein and 20-30% fat.

Potassium might counter balance your high intake of sodium. I couldn’t believe how much sodium I intake even though I felt I had a good diet. Read in my Nutriton class that about 15% of sodium intake comes from the salt shaker. You seem to being doing quite well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks.

I get a lot of potassium in my diet. I've read some stuff that made me believe that the cramps come from an imbalance between potassium and sodium plus newest research points to that balance as the true culprit with high blood pressure rather than just straight sodium levels so I am not super concerned with it. I mostly just don't want the cramps.

When dieting, especially on down days, I seem to be peeing all of the time so it makes sense that I could get low on electrolytes.

Burned 1500 calories today. So far 11 miles towards my goal of walking a marathon this week. 26.2 miles.

I usually have a 4-5 pound winter gain and cut back for a few weeks in late spring. I go vegan for two days. That is 1.25 lb of veggies weighed raw plus two fruits. I combine it with an intermittent fast of 20 ozs whole milk organic yogurt for protein for a day or two if I can last. Then I transition in 7 ozs of lean protein like chicken and fish for a week before I add back any starchy carbs like grains, eggs or fats.

It's brutal but it burns fat not muscle and is short term for summer.
