We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

That reads as speculation that Lucas will not be tendered.

That would be pretty surprising given the FA market for safeties right now. And he'd have to friggen love that.

If nothing else, an original round tender of about $2 million would net them a 6th if someone signed him away. I expect we'd put a 3rd round tender on him of about $3 million. That should be sufficient to keep teams from snapping him up and if they do, so be it.

That money's easily found but cutting Sorensen. Shit, Murray's not an insignificant savings if we let him go. He's a shocking $2 million cap savings if we release him. So that's easy - b'by Eric, and your 'found' cap space goes to Lucas's tender offer.

#Vikings have interest in bringing back free-agent center/guard Brett Jones, but it remains to be see where the money might come from after he made $2.9 million last season. Kansas City and Philadelphia are also possible suitors for Jones.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if that report is accurate.

National guys don't know as much about the team as we do. I wouldn't be surprised if he just looked at some teams that made some splash moves, culled their RFAs and thought "hmmm....this looks like a nice piece of shit to throw at the wall..."

I'd be surprised if the Chiefs let it slip that they'd non-tender him so I don't expect an 'inside source' here. And he doesn't know anything more about our team than we do, so I don't think speculation from him is worth much.

I said this about Jones in the Draft thread several weeks ago:

Brett Jones C - Underrated Center that could come reasonable and compete for the starting gig. Insanely smart (will finish med school after his football career), can slide in at Guard and is scheme versatile. Good Canadian boy who I coached against back when he was a high school Senior. What an ass kicker he was....
