Nzoner's Game Room>***Official gardening, landscape and yardwork thread***
lewdog 11:06 AM 03-11-2017
We had a 2014 gardening thread and another planting trees thread. Figured it would be better just to have a general thread to share knowledge about all things yards.

I've learned stuff about growing things here in the desert from people all around the country. Post pictures and share your knowledge!

Lost new peach tree and nectarine trees (planted in ground) this summer with a record 50+ days over 110 degrees. Hottest summer on record in Phoenix.

Gave my attempt at citrus in growbags though and they loved it.

Lisbon lemon and Dancy Tangerine (Cuties variety sold in store).

It's too hot for them to flower right now but usually provide pink and red blooms in Spring/Fall. Just added the shade structure this week, which will likely house some potted plumerias and various succulents that like heat but not direct Phoenix sun in the middle of summer.

Is that iron staining on your top step?

Excuse to buy smoker? Smoked peppers have many uses

I smoke Habanaros and ghost peppers, dehydrate and grind to powder. It's in my BBQ rubs, sauce, and I use it like pepper(not liberally) on my food. SO not so much.

Great in chili and lightly added to stews. adds a smoky heat that I add to cottage cheese.

Did I mention that I sell what I over produce? Brings in extra whiskey money.

I have a huge jalapeno plant but think about adding a habenero. I don't know what I'd do with them though outside of making salsa.

Are you in Florida?

No. Just needs to be swept. Top step is susceptible to fungus as it's shallow and warm.

No it’s stained. Been that way since we bought the house. Plaster is discolored there and nothing changes it.

No and I wasn't bagging on it at all. Didn't expect it to be stained like that. Weird.

Tried a magic eraser? We use it in stains on our above ground vinyl liner and does wonders. Not sure on a set in stain like that.

Someone once suggested bleach and I was all like "bitch, do you even know hat chlorine is?" I'd probably just resurface each step. Pebbletech or something offsetting. Can't believe you don't have a hoop. Looks refreshing!
