The point doesn't stand at all. Next year is still an open superbowl window with Mahomes on low cap space. 2021 starts the years where Mahomes salary really affects the team.
Why the hell would you ignore that difference? [Reply]

I think the point he was trying to make was that we will probably extend him after this season, even with 2 more years of control, in an effort to both keep him happy by paying him his actual value, while also setting his salary in stone before lesser QBs drive up the market...

My post is in response to those who think we can keep Jones, get Ramsey and pay Pat. Of course there won’t be an issue in the short term.
The point is that it will be very difficult to have that work out once all these guys start making big money at the same time. [Reply]

That said, do remember our QB is likely going to cost at least $30 million more against the cap next year.
Not unless he demands his current deal be ripped up and a whole new deal signed instead of just an extension. I’m expecting it to be an extension to his current deal with a big huge signing bonus that will spread, but keep his 2020 cap hit the same.

Short term extensions and the new CBA will solve all of those concerns. [Reply]

And by the time it does start to get tough potentially, guys like Mathieu and Clark could be gone. That’s a lot of money that could come open. [Reply]
Ramsey is 24 & is rated by many as the best CB in the NFL. A 4 year deal would be perfect. 4/60 would be ideal.
The prime positions on a football team are:
QB - Chiefs have the best.
LT - Pro Bowl-level
DL - Jones & Clark are Pro Bowl- level
CB - A huge Chiefs need...Ramsey would put the Chiefs among the best.
Is he worth a 1st & a 3rd? My vote is yes. [Reply]

No way he agrees to 4 years at $60 million. He will want more. [Reply]
