Nzoner's Game Room>CBS: The Bills are the team no one, including the Chiefs wants to see in the playoffs

Mentions the Chiefs several times, so figured you guys would want to see it.

The Bills are the team no one, including the Chiefs wants to see in the playoffs

Forget the Ravens. Forget the Bucs. The team you don't want to play in January is the Buffalo Bills.

With all due respect to the Packers, the AFC's No. 2 overall seed may very well be the second-best team in the NFL.

The Bills crushed the Dolphins 56-26 in a game Miami needed for their playoff hopes. And maybe we didn't see a 30-point win coming, but it's in line with what the Bills have been doing to teams in recent weeks.

Buffalo has had a top-five scoring defense since Week 12. If not for the Hail Murray they would have finished on a 10-game win streak dating back to before Halloween.

And then there's Josh Allen. The third-year franchise quarterback has, in consecutive weeks, set the Bills single-season records for passing touchdowns and passing yards.

What I love most about the Bills is that they aren't even letting teams hang around. Since that Week 10 loss to the Cardinals, not a single team has finished within a possession of the Bills.

I go back to that Week 6 loss to the Chiefs. Head coach Sean McDermott picked his poison and let the Chiefs' run game beat them up so that Patrick Mahomes wouldn't. Kansas City rushed for 245 yards and Mahomes passed for 225 yards.

But with about 5 minutes left in the game and down 23-17, the Bills forced a Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumble that would have given the Bills the ball at the Kansas City 31.

They would have had a chance to take the lead against the Chiefs there. But instead, the replay showed Edwards-Helaire's knee was down just before the ball came out. Mahomes took the Chiefs down for the field goal and that provided the final margin of victory.

Allen is a better quarterback today than he was then. The defense is playing far better ball. And after sweeping the Patriots and beating the likes of the Seahawks and Steelers, the Bills now know how to win big games.

I remember when a bunch of Bills fans were calling Allen a better QB than Mahomes 2 or 3 games into the season. At that point in his career, he hadn’t beaten a single good team or won a playoff game but he had surpassed an MVP who threw for 50/5000 and won a SB.

Only thing worse than arrogance is unfounded arrogance.
they still haven't won a play-off game, and they lost handily head-to-head.

We're the defending World Champions and won 14 games, treating the last game as a preseason practice.

Patrick Mahomes is 4-1 in play-off games.

It's not arrogance, it's confidence.

If the Chiefs play like they have shown they can, then the opponent doesn't matter. If they take care of their business, they'll win.

We just have to hope to outscore them.

The Bills scored more points than the Chiefs did this season
, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility, but i’m also not counting on it either.

PS, thank you for the kind question without the vitriol.
I'm trying to figure out how this could be relevant? On the flip side the Chiefs gave up less points on defense. So.. there ya go. :-)

Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. Is it possible the Chiefs would lose to the Bills? Sure. Just as it's possible that they'd lose to every other team.

But consistently, when the Chiefs are ON, they're basically unstoppable. The Chiefs best game against the Bills best game is a blowout victory for the Chiefs.

Their problem is that they tend to be very inconsistent even within a single game. If they start to lose focus, they can blow it a number of drives in a row.

The hope that I can think gives Chiefs fans confidence is that they are at their best when it really matters. Let's face it, this entire season has been a warm up, and we all know it. The guys literally seemed bored at points this year.

But now, the games finally mean something. I'm confident that they'll rise to the occasion just like they have done consistently for three years.

And the only loss for Mahomes ever in the playoffs was against Brady and Belichick that went to OT and was lost on a coin toss where he never touched the ball in the OT period.

Who then went on to win the Super Bowl.

Yes, there is a scary team in the AFC. It's the Chiefs who have a generational QB, a HOF coach and a top NFL defense resting and getting ready to slaughter fools.

How dare we! :-)
Here's a cool piece of possible trivia for you.

If we play in the AFC Championship @ Arrowhead for the third straight year? First time in the history of the AFC.

NFC? Only once 2004-2006

Team: Eagles
Coach: Andy Reid

You don’t understand how scoring points could be relevant?

How about you beat the Colts before you ask anyone to take you seriously okay? You're going to have your hands full as it is. Don't put too much on your plate.

Top NFL defense?

Chiefs are 16th in overall defense, 14th in passing defense, 21st in rushing defense, 24th in redzone defense, 17th in 3rd down % defense, 20th in sack percentage, 18th in yards per play given up, 16th in takeaways per game and 11th in scoring.

Isn’t that closer to an average defense rather than a top NFL defense?

Before this weekend when we rested our starters we were 6th in scoring defense. Bills were 15th.

6th in scoring defense when our offense has Mahomes is unfair. He almost dragged us to the Super Bowl with a bottom 5 D.

It took the greatest quarterback and coach of all time getting numerous lucky breaks to hand Patrick Mahomes the only loss in his postseason career.

Anyone who thinks that Fucking Josh Allen is capable of coming into our building and taking down Mahomes in the playoffs is either brain damaged, a hopeless Bills homer, or most likely both.

Imagine how CONFIDENT you would be in your team to win in those circumstances.

That’s what is going on with Chiefs fans.

Re: your earlier response to me, seeing you say you don’t expect the Bills to do better up front on D, then you’re purely counting on winning a shootout if the Bills and Chiefs face off in the title game?

I know both teams will have some new wrinkles for the other, but a big one for the Chiefs’ D is the return of Lajerius Sneed. He’s been playing the nickel slot and playing it at an extremely high level, allowing Spagnuolo to use Mathieu more creatively. They’ll have some confusing wrinkles to throw at Allen from that.
The dumbass fully expects the Bills to run the exact same game plan as they did before and yet he also fully expects a completely different result.

Oh, and by the way...has anybody stopped to realize the Bills' record?

:-)

AFC. 13-3.

They done.
