The #Chiefs are hiring Steve Spagnuolo as their new defensive coordinator, sources say. The former #Giants DC and interim HC/#Rams HC began his NFL coaching career as an #Eagles assistant under Andy Reid. Now rejoins Big Red in KC.

It’s looking a hell of a lot like that 2018 AFCCG loss, though a real bitch of a loss at the time, was crucial to our long-term success.
Funny how things work out.
No. In fact, we probably don't have any SB wins if Sutton is still DC. Probably don't even get to the SB more than once with Uncle Bob. If that. [Reply]
Spags was on another interview saying that Nick is the SMARTEST player he's ever had in all his decades of coaching.
There was also an mic'd up earlier in the year, I think it was Reid, where Bolton goes to him on the sideline and goes "how'd you like that call?" and Reid was like "loved it!" Showing that it's a LOT of Bolton out there calling the defensive plays with Spags.
This makes me really believe that it is Nick that is like the Pat of the defense, where Jones is more like the Kelce.
They both need each other, but Bolton's genius gets lost in some of the hype noise around everyone else, eg Jones, Sneed, McDuffie etc [Reply]

Theres this fun video by Jon Bois that talks about this godawful defensive drive the Chiefs had in 2011 vs the Jets that, through an unbelievable butterfly effect, led to Andy Reid getting hired in 2013.
I like to think its no different with Spags, if we don't lose that AFCCG, we probably don't fire Sutton and hire Spags. [Reply]
Teams are so desperate to break up our dynasty. I fully expect a lot of our free agents to get bigger contracts just for that purpose. I think teams will overpay our players just so they leave us. [Reply]
I don't know if it's even allowed in the NFL or not. But I've thought that some team owner is going to try and poach Brett Veach with a massive GM offer like the red sox did in moneyball [Reply]

Probably why we extended him through 2029. And in 2027 we will probably try to extend him again. [Reply]

Clark has shown he's willing to pay coaches and GMs whatever they want. Pioli, Dorsey, and Veach have all been the highest paid GMs in the league. So unless Veach makes Reid mad and Reid fires him, Veach is here to stay. [Reply]
