59 million people were infected with H1N1 in the U.S. If 1% of them died (which is a reasonable estimate of where the CFR will fall out), that would be 590,000 people. Swine flu killed 12,000.

1% doesn't sound like a big number, but across the entire population, it's insanely high.

The media has not made it seem like anyone who gets this will die. Quite the opposite actually so stop with your exaggeration.
Uh huh...right

So...fuck people who aren't healthy then?

The Hunt grossly underperformed but since it's been in the news lately, it's smart to release it PPV before it's an afterthought.

Empty shelves finally in the Tuke. No bread, water, TP and paper towels, meats, or carts. Place was packed at 10:30 on a Monday. Checkout lady said they put limits on purchases.

Swine Flu killed almost 600,000 world wide. I don't see us on a pace for 12,000 deaths at this point from CV.

A large percentage of the people working on film and TV sets are unionized, so they won't lose anything from these shutdowns.

These same people will not lose their jobs once production ramps up again.

Plenty of beer still unsold where I live.

What about all the people that depend on them, like waiters, bartenders, etc., etc?

Well, that's a nice gut feeling you have there.

I don't think you'll see a PPV option for movies that were schedule to released in the next few months but if this drags on to the Fall, we might see the release mechanism changed.

It is my opinion that film releases will never be the same. The studios that I've worked for (WB, Fox, Disney, MGM) have been expecting this for a decade at least and I think this will hasten it.

I like seeing movies in theaters but streaming services will just charge more for new releases and not try to drive the public into theaters.

Just relax. Remember this line:

Can’t you understand what’s happening here? Don’t you see what’s happening? Potter isn’t selling. Potter’s buying! And why? Because we’re panicking and he’s not. That’s why. He’s picking up some bargains. Now, we can get through this thing all right. We’ve got to stick together, though. We’ve got to have faith in each other.

That’s been my investing strategy since I was 21. Buy when others are panicking. It really does work.

I have no doubt that this pandemic will ultimately change the way feature films are distributed but I do think that the theaters will be packed once the restrictions are lifted because people will be craving "normalcy".

The only question that remains is when...
