I get a Cutlerian vibe from this guy. Seems to be built like a franchise QB. Powerful arm, some beautiful passes, perfect bodytype. But he is lacking an "it" factor, is he not? He's not a world-beating, overcome-the-odds, particularly spiriting QB. Looks like he could have an okay career in the NFL in which he wins nothing of consequence.
Well if there was one Andy Reid QB in this entire draft, it's Trubisky, isn't it? Super accurate, doesn't take too many risks with the ball, is very mentally tough and very athletic. He's a slam dunk for the Chiefs to trade up for, if he lasts to the 20s, but in a QB-starved NFL with at least 6 new head coaches looking for their QB, there's no chance he lasts to us. [Reply]

Ideally I would love to get Webb at 27 and then use multiple picks to trade up for Zach Cunningham or Raekwon McMillan in rd 2.
Now that's a plan I can get behind. I wouldn't trade up for McMillan but I'd gladly take him in the 2nd too. [Reply]

I think they're all out there trying to bait each other and even taking other team's bait to send out there own.
For instance, I think the Cards going QB is probably bullshit. It just doesn't add up right now, not at 12. But if you're a team that's 5-6 spots ahead of them, you hear they're looking QB so you start sending out signals to suggest their QB might not be there at 12 so they need to move up to 8 to get their guy.
When 'their guy' is a fabrication.
It's bullshit born of bullshit at this point. I've reached the 'fuck it - stick to the board until 20' stage of the proceedings because I think there's a whole lot of bluffing going on right now. [Reply]

Couldn't agree more.
I mentioned it in another thread, but if you're Fitz and Palmer, how do you not get pissed off when the Cards take a QB that needs at least a year on the bench over guys ready to have an impact now? Why would they come back for that? Also, something about Arians makes me think he'd feel the same way. [Reply]

Arians said in an article that he wanted to leave the Cardinals with a QBoTF when he left. Doesn't necessarily mean that he has to do it this year. He could do it next year if he wanted to. [Reply]

No doubt he will do that because Palmer's probably gone after this year, but Mahomes at 13 just doesn't sound right to me with the talent that will be available combined with those guys returning to try to win a SB.
I find it interesting that Peter King said the Cards "want a day 1 starter" in his mock. [Reply]
Think of the talent that would be there at 27 if all these teams actually took a QB. if 5 Qbs get taken we would have someone extremely talented fall to us. Then I wouldn't even be mad if they didn't take a qb even though I want one bad because I hate Alex Smith [Reply]

This is why I think we're in a great position [Reply]

If the Cards were sitting 20 or if they had no recent history of success or even if the draft just wasn't all that good, maybe I could convince myself that they'd go QB.
But this is a team that was considered a legit SB contender in '16 who still has David Johnson and a dynamic offense and who is staring down the barrel of a LOADED draft that doesn't see it's first fall off until the mid-teens. They can get a guy at 13 that's no worse a bet than the guy that goes at 2, IMO. That's not necessarily the case at 16-17 but up where the Cards are, there are still guys that will be in the mix for top 5 consideration that will be available to them.
I just can't get there. I could be proven wrong but too much about that simply doesn't make sense. [Reply]
