WR:

Troy Franklin, Oregon
Adonai Mitchell, Texas
Xavier Worthy, Texas
Ladd McConkey, Georgia

OT:

Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
Kingsley Suamataia, BYU
Jordan Morgan, Arizona

CB:

Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama

Typically, we draft a guy from this list every year that I've been doing it.

Anybody you guys feel should/shouldn't be on there?

Seems so much more likely that we take a WR in the second to me. Maybe a trade up like in recent years, but there will also be great options at #64.

The 2nd is just so stacked with WR talent this year it's unreal!
We’re probably not getting first round talent of any kind 32 so maybe just get your guy. But we’re probably not getting second round talent at 64 either. I think a trade up in the second is the move.

I'm not sure I understand this. There's a good chance that there will be 1st round talent available when pick #32 comes up. It might not be the position we need, but the mock drafts I've run usually show a few guys that have fallen.

I'd be willing to bet that they trade up at least once in the first 2 rounds.

I guess it depends on your definition of first round talent. Most consider there to be 18-20 first round grades iirc. It's possible one of the top 20 fall but hard for me to think that 12 of the better run NFL franchises picking in that range let them get to us, especially with Baltimore sitting there. Every year they poach that slide guy. It's disgusting.

Ok, I get it. It's very dependent on how you define "first round talent." It sounds like your definition is more applicable to something like "top tier talent."

I view it thusly: A "First round talent" would be taken in the first round of any draft regardless of position and regardless of depth.

So a 'first round grade' on, for instance, a safety - that's gonna need to be a DAMN good safety. Now in some years you see 3 safeties taken in the 1st round but that's mostly because the class is weak elsewhere so those safeties get moved up.

For instance, look at the 2022 draft. Two safeties in Cine and Hill went in the 1st round. Those guys weren't 1st round talents. Very few years would have them going in the 1st.

Kaiir Elam from that draft is a perfect 'close call' example. The draft got a little shallow at CB after the top 3 guys. And the Bills needed a CB. So they took him at 23 when in a lot of years, there's just going to be a better CB there at CB4 and Elam's not going to go to Buffalo at 23 but rather TN at 35 (the next team to pick a CB). Now Elam's borderline in that regard - I'm betting some teams really did put a 1st round grade on him. But on balance I think he was a need pick.

If a guy is going to go in the 1st round every year regardless of the depth of his class and regardless of the need of the teams later in the round, that's a 'First Round Grade' player, IMO.

And as others have said, to my eyes that usually goes about 18-20 players deep. And usually they're all gone by about pick 28.

ESPN's suggested trade for the Chiefs.

32. Kansas City Chiefs
Cardinals get: 1-32, 3-95
Chiefs get: 1-27, 6-186

If the Chiefs want to add a wide receiver in Round 1, they might want to get ahead of their arch-rivals from Buffalo, who pick at No. 28 and have a wide-open depth chart after trading Stefon Diggs and losing Gabe Davis in free agency. Moving up five spots would be in Kansas City GM Brett Veach's range, and while it would cost the Chiefs a third-round pick, beating the Bills to the punch for a wideout who separated from the pack on Kansas City's board would both help the Chiefs and potentially harm one of their biggest rivals.

The Cardinals, who have featured in many of this mock's trades, would then have pick Nos. 32, 35, 66, 71, 90, 95 and 104, plus whatever they end up doing with the No. 4 overall pick. It's not the sexiest way to turn around a roster, but every single analytics department in the league would be nodding and looking longingly at all the second- and third-round picks GM Monti Ossenfort has amassed.

^If it's for WR BTJ or an OT I'd be super happy with that deal!

Im almost like **** it, lets go get Odunze or Nabers...we would lose our first+ next year, but picking 32 hasnt yielded much lately

Disagree lol. We’re built to compete for the next 15 years but that takes discipline when it comes to asset allocation. It’s hard to argue that any wr is worth two ones. They’ve got a 50% success rate in round 1. Considering your only guaranteed 6 years with the 5year option then a franchise tag. I’d say the argument could be made for a left tackle because there’s far fewer top tier LTs

If you want Brian Thomas Jr. you will have to move up to 16 trade w/ Seattle. Like KCCROW stated, you lose round 2 and give up round 3 Titans pick in 2025. Is it worth it? ONLY Veach knows.

Second option pick 32. Xavier Worthy, Troy Franklin or Ladd McConkey

I really do not know at this point what we should do. If I had to pick, I'd go with a 20 year old Xavier Worthy @ 32 and move forward. Just my .02 :-)

YOU tell ME:

Brian Thomas Jr.

Xavier Worthy

Ladd McConkley

Troy Franklin

My hot take is the Chiefs will trade up for a LT If it's Olu Fashanu, Amarius Mims, or Jordan Morgan remains to be seen.

Brett Veach smiles when asked about the #Chiefs trading up to the top 15. He nudged that that type of big move would require Andy Reid and Clark Hunt being on board.

Asked Brett Veach about moving into top 10-15 for a non-QB:

"I can envision myself doing that. I just got to get the owner's approval," he says with a smile.

Adds right things have to fall in place, they have had attempts to do this in the past that didn't come together. pic.twitter.com/w19xfoub3f

A few notes from Chiefs GM Brett Veach's pre-draft presser this morning:

KC has 221 players on its draft board

 16-18 players have a Round 1 grade

This class is deep at WR, CB and DL

OL (G/C depth + competition at LT), WR and CB depth were areas of need mentioned
