Been meaning to start a thread on this for years and never have for some reason. Big fan of both the original (what I've seen/remember of it...) and the rebooted series.
So I tried starting from the beginning ("Rose" w/ Eccelston) and I couldn't stand it. I started over again last night but this time from Matt Smith's first episode and really liked it. I think I'll just watch from here and if I like all of it, I'll go back and try from the beginning of the new stuff again. [Reply]

I think Matt Smith is by far the best modern Doctor, and I love Amy and Rory too. There are some good episodes earlier (The girl in the fireplace), but I find it hard to watch some of the earlier ones too, at least after the more recent seasons. [Reply]
I'd start with the second season. David Tennant was an awesome doctor too, and it will help you understand some things like River Song and what the Angels are. A lot of people liked Eccleston, but that season was just too goofy for me. [Reply]

I think Eccleston is my least favorite doctor of all time, but that may be because he only took the role for one year. I thought Tennant really brought the Doctor back. [Reply]
