Yep...

But Sweden still stands out in the region as the country to have suffered the highest number of Covid fatalities, by far. Per 100,000, Sweden’s Covid death rate is now about 57, compared to 11 in Denmark and 5 in Norway.

If only those supposedly infallible Euro states had "use lockdowns to expand medical care capacity" on their agendas.

Sweden was always playing the long game. Lock down hard, control infections etc works but it's not a long term strategy that will work.

After some reading, it does sound like some of the European countries which are seeing big spikes in cases are handling it pretty well. Just like us, many of the new cases are younger people and they aren't seeing the hospitalization rates any where close to when it first hit.

Cases in young people eventually get to the elderly and those who can't handle the infection, or thats what we were told when this happened here.

I have no doubt that that has happened (see nursing homes, for example) and will continue to happen. Let's just do what we can to minimize it.

No. I think we're at the point of having to ride this out the best we can, hopefully with as many people as possible doing what they can to mitigate until we get a vaccine.

We're seeing multiple outbreaks in multiple nursing homes in my area now. Our hospital is treating its highest number of COVID patients since this started.

Our Mayor just issued a city wide mask mandate starting on Thursday.

Fuck.

We're a solid month and a half on the same thing here. Seems to be easing but the nursing homes are getting wiped.

"When not able to stay 6 feet apart" That's the out for local businesses to not get crushed by it. I know he really doesn't want to have to put this in effect but gets put under a lot of pressure to do so.

I think outside of lockdowns and SD, masks make the biggest difference.

Yeah the nursing homes are all getting nailed. One would assume that's driving up the hospital numbers.
