Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.
Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:
If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. [Reply]

Under 1500 calories isn't necessarily enough to send your body into starvation mode. Just a few weeks ago, I was consuming only 900 calories per day and doing at least that amount of exercise. It was fine. There are many factors influencing starvation mode, the biggest of which is amount of time in a severe deficit, which is far longer than 1-2 days a week. You might start seeing some metabolic slowdown after a week or two if you aren't incorporating some kind of refeed into your diet.
Even IF you enter starvation mode, you'll still be burning more fat than if you weren't, so if fat loss is your goal, there's no downside.
Now, you need to maintain some amount of healthy fats at all times, and you need to get a couple of high calorie, low fat meals once every couple of weeks if you DO go super low calorie (1500 is not that low), but it's not that difficult.
I appreciate the explanation. :-) here I was thinking I was making progress. I'm thinking about doing a week of 1,600 calories and seeing how I feel. My goal is to get down to 200. [Reply]

Now let me ask you this on days you workout what would be an ideal calorie goal for that day?
I don't change my calories based on activity level. In fact, I would say that I probably eat LESS on workout days than non-workout days, although given the fact that I work out 6 days a week, it's kind of a moot point. I just feel less hungry on workout days. When I'm not working out, I have more free time and end up just eating. Just try to hit an average goal, and don't worry about trying to nutrient time based on what you did that day. Your body doesn't actually work in strict 24 hour cycles, so there's no need to try and cram something in to an arbitrary window when it's not necessary.
What you're doing is working, so don't change it unless you feel comfortable. If you feel like you could give up an extra 100 calories a day, try it. See how that goes for 2-3 days. If you feel like you can give up more, try a little more.
I'm just now starting to eat more than 1500 calories per day, trying to ramp back up to 2500 or so. [Reply]
Saw my coach today... he said I need to drop 10-12 more lbs so either shoot for the comp in OK in 4 weeks or he can put me though 2 weeks of hell to get there for the KC show :-) He's not looking for me to get a participation ribbon, but to be a top guy in my class I guess if I do it. I showed him the pic of the guy that got 6th and he just said "Yeah, that guy looks like shit" :-) [Reply]

I agree with him, but I didn't want to be the first one to rain on your parade :-) Go with the longer date, IMO. Gives you more time to prepare and adjust if things go wrong. 2 weeks of Hell will be bad, because it will be super low intake, and you'll have problems coming back off of those low calories. Ask me how I know. :-)

I agree lol
I think thats the better option also. Ever heard of Ketofirin or something like that? Strong antihistamine thats suppose to allow you to extend a clen cycle a few more weeks from the normal 2. [Reply]

Starvation mode is vastly over-stated. You can go very low on calories without burning a ton of muscle. Once you have muscle, your body isn't going to want to just get rid of it unless you went into full fast mode for days on end (a la survivor). Calories can be dropped pretty significantly but do focus on getting a good amount of protein. [Reply]

ketotifen.... Blocks the clen from downgrading your beta2 recepters and makes your recepters more responsive to clen.
Should be able to extend cycle to around 10 weeks but should take at least three off when complete. [Reply]

I didn't feel as much my second cycle either. Taking extra time until next cycle and may try the keto with it. [Reply]

I figure, once I get to where I can do a set of five, then I'll try adding more weight.
That's pretty damn impressive luv. I think you should fuck the getting on stage for a figure comp and go with the lean body powerlifting gig. You've progressed very well strength wise and if you keep focusing on strength, you'll be very strong for your size. And no, focusing on strength will not make you blowup so don't anyone try to say that shit. [Reply]
