Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.
Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”
“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.
“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.
The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”
In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.
The new Batmobile kinda looks like a cross between the elongated Keaton/Kilmer etc style and the more rugged, utilitarian Bale look.
I'm not the least bit worried about Affleck pulling off Batman, he's a very good actor and a big guy, much bigger than Bale... what DOES worry me is the story.
Mixing these two guys just sounds like fail in a bottle to me. [Reply]
Isn't the comic book storyline that superman gave Batman/Bruce Wayne a kryptonite ring in case he ever let his ego/powers get out of control he could be contained? [Reply]

No thanks, Bale was a quite terrible Bruce. At least Affleck looks the part with the dark hair, build and hopefully not a hilariously bad "batman" voice :-) [Reply]

That would be a neat little twist that helps answer several plot questions. [Reply]

None of those Bale slams make any sense to me whatsoever. [Reply]

There's been countless of iterations and even reboots of Batman/Superman stories over the years so there's not really a single story line. Most of them which involve conflict between the two have Bats either outwitting him or using the good ole "welp I'm rich so I also keep a handy bit of Kryptonite with me." Even when Dick Grayson was Batman it's suggested that he also carries it on-hand just in case as well.
Dark Knight Returns has been referenced many times by Snyder in regards to this flick and even the costume/logo is based off of it so I think they'll handle the fighting pretty similar.. in which case Supes will be drained somehow (in the story he absorbs nuclear fallout which also covers the sun so he can't fully regenerate) and Bats goes toe-to-toe in a brawl using a mech suit (which still isn't enough) before the Kryptonite trumph card gets pulled out via bow shot from Green Arrow. That said, I don't think they'll introduce something as cheesy as Kryptonite in this film universe (hopefully not yet anyway) but I can definitely see the Batman mech suit coming to play. [Reply]

Can't say I disagree with the raspy out of breath Batman voice.
But Bale played a good Bruce Wayne...for what that Bruce was supposed to be anyways. [Reply]
