Nzoner's Game Room>UPDATE: Ford to 49ers for a 2020 2nd round pick. Official.
Dante84 06:19 PM 03-12-2019

More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

The trade is essentially agreed to — Ford for a 2020 2nd round pick. That assumes the #49ers get a deal done with Ford. https://t.co/g4tYK2tWFh

When you're making this argument, it's important to remember that future picks can be leveraged in current trades.

The halfass way they went about rebuilding the D in 2018 and now the way we're punting picks to 2020, the team seems to be content with waiting until Mahomes is really expensive instead of taking advantage of the years when he's cheap.

Even if we traded for a lower 2019 pick... I would much rather have had that.
It’s where we are, this was one the major reasons I didn’t want to switch to 4-3. But we have to make due with what we have right now. Pray we draft well and use cap space wisely.

Is this really for a 2nd round pick NEXT year?

Annoying. Unloading him was a priority if that's the comp.

Well, at least the 49ers suck, so hopefully they still suck next year.

So KC in 2019 and 2020 have these picks in rounds 1-3

1, 2, 2, 3
1, 2, 2, 3

This is very important for Veach

You guys are making shit up... he isn't the poster boy for anything. You guys don't even know him enough to make that assessment...

AND AGAIN... WE ARE PAYING THE HONEY BADGER $14MM PER YEAR... LOL... You guys are questioning Ford's character, when KC just signed a dude who was kicked off his college football team cause he liked smoking weed...

But yall are worried about Ford quitting after a big payday... LOL...
And again, it's not about his character. It's about his ability to stay healthy and his football IQ. Veach would have been crazy to pay him long term based on his 5 year track record.

We already had to pay him 7 mil in dead money this year and could have cut him pretty much scot-free next season.

Cap is high yes, but would have preferred to have him stay if Ford was traded, especially since we desperately need a lb and corner.

****. HIM.
Yes, because it wasn't the 37 points that cost us that game. It was just that ONE play...

@MattVerderame: After trading Dee Ford, the #Chiefs have another hole on defense. A few edge rushers that would make sense include Ezekiel Ansah and Markus Golden. Food for thought.

Shut the fuck up. And don't act like I said Ford for the 12 because I never fucking did
No you fucking idiot I called him a top 15 talent. As in, he wasn’t going there but that’s where his upside was, hence why I repeated it after we drafted him. In no way did I think he was going to be a top 15 pick.

Try again dumbass.

You thought we’d get 1st round value. We got 3rd round value.

Yeah, I guess I missed his other valuable contributions to the game. :-)

First, other's on the board are making it about his character.

Second, Veach paid Watkins ($14MM), and he just paid Mathieu ($14MM). Both are injury prone at less valuable positions than Ford.
