Kent Swanson has floated it as well.
I'm just saying...
Poles is an idiot if he does this unless he can get Veach to massively overpay. 32, 64 and one of the last picks in the 1st rd next year isn’t enough for that type of trade down to be worth if for him. It’s gonna cost more and the cost won’t be worth it.
Poles can get Odunze, the 2nd best Tackle or an elite pass rusher at 9. Why would he not just take that? [Reply]

NOBODY has Polk as a 1st round pick. I typically see him in the 3rd round. No, he didn't 'rise up draft boards' like that.
That's NFL Draft Twitter's seedy underbelly. At best, that guy wanted to 'discuss the player' but more likely someone fed him intel on something else to get his guy "in the first round conversation" in the final weeks leading up to the draft.
When you realize how full of shit most of these guys are, nonsense like Polk in the first round starts to make more sense.
It's a Schraegs mock. He's not a high level football analyst he's an elbow rubber. All of this is bullshit being fed. It wouldn't surprise me if Veach himself said Polk because he's a completely different type of player from what he wants in R1. I like Polk the player though. I didn't read the mock, but if Veach made that pick I would trust it he's earned that. It could be a complete over correction from the dropped balls last year and they want the guy who doesn't drop shit. [Reply]

I imagine they'd take Franklin or Kingsley though.
Newton would be a hard guy to pass on. That interior pass rush would be somethin' else.
I'm still leaning OT here in that scenario. But if they saw more from Morris than I did and wanted to go with Newton instead, that wouldn't bother me a bit. I think he's going to be a very good player.
Patience will be needed though. It seems like the learning curve for interior pass rushers is pretty steep. Though with Tank back (and Danna's ability to move inside) we have a little depth to work with there. NT isn't great, but you could rotate him in/around at 3-tech. You could really just have him back up Jones if you wanted to have have him come into that spot when Jones kicks out to DE.
Jones - Newton - Wharton - Karlaftis would be an interesting little pass rush package to send out there in clear passing situations or on the occasional 1st down when you're daring them to run the ball. [Reply]

He's tough and has fantastic hands. I'd prefer someone a little faster but I think he can play a little better than his 4.52.
Problem I see it that one of those 2nd round targets will fall to use @ #64, unless we think Polk is special I might wait to see who falls to us. [Reply]
I do like Polk's ability to catch with his hands instead of his body, and to hang on to the ball through contact. A lot of his catches in this video are due to coverage busts, though.

Sure if he's there at 95 grab him, after we get Morgan/Kingsley at 32 and Sweat at 64 :-) [Reply]

I'm not advocating for Polk at 32 just for the record and I agree. I am full retard for Pearsall though lol. I'm not saying at 32 but I'm not not saying at 32. [Reply]
The PFN simulator keeps sliding DeJean or Newton to 32 today. Has anyone else noticed patterns that seem to last about 24 hours? I wonder if this is an algorithm thing or if they manually add those for a day or two. [Reply]
Johnny Newton had his pro day this morning. He was recovering from a foot injury which is why he didn’t run at Indy. He didn’t run the 40 or any other drills today, just on field drills.
Feels like recency bias is pushing him down the board simply bc of not testing. I think he’s gonna fall and we will be able to take him if we want to. [Reply]
If a guy like Newton falls, then you move up (probably) for a WR in the second are you completely out on late Tackles? We took a project tackle last year. [Reply]

I'd still take another project in the 3rd or 4th, and I'd sign somebody like Smith. [Reply]
