The only reason we have him is because he had injury issues. We have gotten pretty much what we expected.

He'll play. I wouldn't be surprised if he's underestimating his readiness out of an abundance of caution. When you struggle with injuries like he has, you probably don't want to be overly optimistic and risk a major letdown.

The dude seems to be getting less and less healthy as time goes on. This was his worst year as a Chief and his worst overall since 2016.
