One of my best friend ever, Paul Thomas used to run karaoke 5 nights a week and he'd sing "Black Betty" to start every show. He did it for 20 years and estimated he sang that song 20,000 times. Since he died 5 years ago I can't listen to it anymore.

Not trying to poo poo your song, just telling my story.

I can hardly see or hear the title without thinking of PT. Well actually I can't.

RIP brother.

Damn. I'm sorry about your friend. :-)

I guess, for the most part, I see memory cues as a gift. There are songs that remind me of friends/family that have passed. Sometimes it's difficult for me to listen to them, but other times it helps bring them back to me for a short time.

RIP, Paul.

Yep. It's good to think of PT again. It hurts because we were best friends when he died and he left 2 young sons behind. They're growing up to be fine young men, I just wish he could be here to see them.

I spoke at his funeral and cried through most of it but I had to do it. His wife asked me to and I couldn't let her down. Second hardest thing I've ever done after speaking at my dads funeral.

I'm not doing funerals anymore. It kills you for days afterwards.

I'm really digging this group right now. Clairy Browne and the bangin' rackettes. They sound like a love child of Adele and Amy Winehouse if it grew up up in the 50's.
