This team is going to need a top notch run game to make an AFC Championship under Alex Smith in 2017, along with a top notch defense. Now, if Mahomes becomes as good as many including myself think he could be, it's a whole new level for the Chiefs. The offense could become something it hasn't been in nearly 15 years.
I honestly dont see our guys being quite as dynamic as Atlantas duo
But what our guys lack in explosiveness, they should be be able to make up for with with a grinding, wear you down, kill the clock style... provided Ehingers return is the cure for what ailed us last year
What Alex Smith brings this year, I have no clue... tempted to expect the same old shit because thats how he has mostly played for his entire career
But maybe, just maybe, the writing on the wall spurs him to reach outside of himself and he tries to MAKE plays for once... 'good' Smiff can approach dynamic, we'll see
The pressure will either make him wilt, or make him show off
If he decides to grab his balls, we could have a great year [Reply]
It took my fishing thread ****ing YEARS to get this many replies :-)
Further proof that its time for Smith to go, the whole subject has eaten up entirely too much bandwidth
As a fanbase, and as a team... its time to move on
In my defense as far as 'my thread', my post actually kind pushed things into more pro-Mahomes talk than it did anti-Alex talk... but I'm not complaining, its fun to watch a thread explode without me even adding a damn thing to it [Reply]

I'd like know this myself. They looked fantastic on the first drive & dogshit the rest of the way.

I was never blaming you FTR, I was just trying to find a point to cut it out of the old thread. I honestly fight even look at who's it was. Sorry if you felt singled out. I only moved 118 posts I think... [Reply]

No sweat, it rubbed me wrong at first (what did I do!??), but I quickly found value in it, and the truth is... it did kinda end up derailing the Hunt talk [Reply]

Oh, I know that. Nothing could change anyone's mind, and that wasn't the intent. I was having fun looking back, and proving to myself that people are just full of shit.
No need for all the hurt feels. I know and have said that this is the end for Smith, and I will applaud his retirement. The Chiefs will be fun moving forward, and win or lose, it will be nice to not have the Smith drama. [Reply]

You're gonna have the biggest thread ever probably. [Reply]

Smith has a 2 year window and his efficiency, sack rate, and QBR continue to improve. The pieces around him finally have experience (OL, RB, WR, TE). Time to accept that he's the leader and support this team. No more of this fair weather b.s. from the ignorant folk.
Wrong. This team belongs to PMII. Your garbage-boy is just warming the toilet seat.

I think he should find that work as soon as possible. [Reply]
We also saw the beginning stages of Alex's career decline last season. Too many hits to the head, being more cautious, not using his legs, etc.
Make no mistake, those weren't due to lack of supporting cast. Alex has had it worse in the past. Far worse. These things are due to him getting older and more beat up.
I hope he lasts the entire year, because I don't want Mahomes to even sniff the field in 2017 if at all possible, but I see in my crystal ball an increasingly weak and feeble old man Alex starting to surface and become more obvious to fans and coaches.
That's a big reason why I think Mahomes will be the starter in 2018. One year is plenty, he's a smart guy, he'll pick up the offense quickly, yadda yadda all that... but moreso it's going to be because he's actually the best option we'll have at QB. [Reply]

You're wrong.
Tiger told me year 12 is when quarterbacks start to hit their peak. [Reply]
