Yeah, it will be interesting.
Will come down partially to what the trade market looks like for guys like Soler and Merrifield, I think.
He needs to move Dozier to RF and leave Soler perm DH. Let Phillips patrol the entire OF by himself and hit him 9 and don’t even pay attention to his offense.
Not sure what to do about LF, 3B, or 1B. I’d sign Moose for sure but I doubt he wants to come here a THIRD time. I’d prob platoon ROH at 1B but of course teams refuse to do that, for some stupid reasons.
All else fails you would play Cuthbert or Gutierrez there. Bat them 8th. [Reply]
Whit Merrifield - 150 games, (3 other players in 2019 MLB have 150, Marcus Semien, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Ozzie Albies)
630 ABs, (1st in MLB)
193 hits, (1st in MLB. Next closest is D.J. LeMahieu, NYY, with 185)
.306 average (15th in MLB) [Reply]

I agree about Soler.
Dozier at either 1b or RF.
Moose back at 3rd makes a pretty killer middle of the lineup.
Whit-Mondesi-Dozier-Soler-Moustakas-Perez is pretty killer.
You're either going to have all 3 OF spots questionable or 2 and 1st base.
Phillips AND Starling would be tough to stomach offensively.
I don't know. We should've kept Goodwin. Oh well. [Reply]
OF's with speed and high contact rates. Don't worry about power.
PITCHING, PITCHING, PITCHING.
I think tanking is kind of dumb as the success rate for MLB draftees is SO LOW. You need to hit on some guys, obviously, but you can't assume anybody is actually going to be a plus MLB player.
With better pitching and Perez back along with Moose, you can be a competitive club. If you're competitive, people will fill the seats and buy the merch. You can get a better TV deal. You can then afford a few pieces.
There's a good core group here with Whit/Dozier/Soler/Mondesi/Perez. [Reply]
Man the pitching is so hopeless it’s almost moot trying to fix any of it for 2020. (Kyle yesterday was about as bad as I’ve ever seen a pitcher and that’s saying a lot. Was like an Albie Lopez or Jerry Spradlin). Not sure what the answer is there.
You can platoon Cuthbert at 1B with ROH. Get you 259-20-75 for $1M. That’s fine by me. Leaves 3B and LF. No clue there. [Reply]

Unlike football, where you can project young players somewhat, the minor leaguers are so much of a crapshoot I think you have to fill holes with major leaguers via free agency unless you really think your young guys are for real.
I don't think you've got any sure-fire day one kiddos ready to go.
The biggest problem is the pen, in my opinion. A decent pen and we win 15 more games with just that alone. [Reply]
