But Mikolas is a guy that pitches backwards and has to do crafty righty stuff. Teams can/will eventually adjust to that. Moreover, he just looks like he's a little tired right now.
Meanwhile Flaherty can just come right at you and beat you with raw stuff. That's how you win in the post-season. Better still, Flaherty - at least right now - doesn't appear to be tiring.
Obviously things could change between now and then. Frankly, we may not have the luxury of setting up our rotation and maybe Gomber has to take the start. But if I could set up my rotation any way I wanted for the WC game, it would be Flaherty without question.
Mikolas has an average of 6+ runs of support every game. Many pitchers will have his success with 6 runs every time. Lefties are hitting .500+ the last 10 games he’s pitched. He can’t get inside on them. [Reply]
I actually like the Giants announcers - not homers and don't bitch about borderline calls - not insulting - they seem nice, overall. Certainly better than fucking Chip Caray and Joe Sinpson. [Reply]

Weaver...
If you can’t trust a pitcher to hold a 10 run lead with only 3 outs to go, why are you still on the club? He needs to go work on getting a MLB ready curve ball and not until then. [Reply]
Was at the game tonight. If there were more than 1000 people left in the 9th Weaver would have been booed off the mound. Throw a first pitch strike for God’s sake. [Reply]
They seem to always come out flat in them. Sometimes they have an inning where they get 2-3 runs and that's enough to pull out the W but they just don't seem to come out with much energy for day games. Combine that with the fact that they'd already secured the series win and it just feels like one of those class "LaRussa getaway days" where he pretty openly couldn't have given less of a shit about the outcome. we are even playing against Pitt’s “C” lineup. But as it’s been this way all year, winning or losing is determined by our play not whoever we are playing. We beat good teams and lose to bad teams.
Overall we are on track to make it into the WC. Fired Matheny and a WC berth is way better than I thought this year was going to turn out. [Reply]
