How valuable is he? He isn't young any more, the defense is god awful with him out there... [Reply]
I still might lean towards releasing Houston and saving 14 million towards the cap, and Berry post June 1st and saving 9.5 million towards the cap. That gives us roughy 66-67 million, when added to the 43 million we should have according to over the cap, to resign/shore up key positions in '19.
Yep. Trade Houston for whatever you can get. Cut Sorensen outright. OTC says about 38.6 in space, so that gets you to about 55.3 after those moves. Sign your draft picks and reserve about 5 million for in-season moves, you're at around 47 million giver or take. You can get a few free agents for that.
You'd have to cut Berry with a June 1 designation, that's your space that you'd need under the 2019 cap to extend Hill and Jones and the most likely use of that money at that juncture.
By the way, that post I made earlier, I severely fucked up Berry's cap estimates... but you're spot on with 9.5 savings in 2019. He's 8.0 of dead space in 2020 with 5.5 savings under a June 1 cut designation. [Reply]

I'm all for blowing it up this offseason on defense. This offense will pretty much come back intact next season and we should be able to add some depth there as well. It's not like this defense can get any fucking worse. [Reply]
Andy doesn’t even have to fire his kid. His son has actually helped produce results on this defense.
Everyone else on staff can go though. Emmitt Thomas can “retire”.
This defense doesn’t even need that much talent added to it. Get a quality coach and everything changes. We constantly see guys like Erving, Reiter, D. Williams, etc doing well on offense, but we haven’t seen that on defense.

Chris Jones gets immediate pressure but the ball is still out too quick and it's a third down conversion. I'm not sure there's 3 seconds this season that better describe the Chiefs defense. pic.twitter.com/rz0m661x71
And the news that has been clear for weeks: The #Jets are expected to fire coach Todd Bowles following the 2018 season. Story here https://t.co/GFgdqCLmx1
