When you find something you like, note the record label that put it out then develop a list of labels you like/trust. Feel most independent labels will put out similar styles and sounds. Then block all your family and "friends" on social media and follow just the bands/labels and you'll always be in the know of what's new within the scope of what you've liked historically.
That's been my formula for 20+ years (sans the social media part). [Reply]

Yep, I network with several smaller bands on FB and I've found a ton of interesting music that way. Speaking of bands I've networked with (and helped spread the word about) on social media, this is what I'm listening to right now...

Seeing this iteration of the band at the Granada was one of my biggest concert disappointments. Pepper was out of control, and not in a good way. [Reply]
In the man cave tonight. Jethro Tull and Van Morrison so far. The old Tull album is warped as hell but still plays. Never knew he had a Blues side to him. [Reply]
Huh, weird nook and cranny of something you knew existed, but didn't.
Knew the song as everyone did, knew nothing about the video even though it's nearing 1B views.
No doubt there's a lot of late 90's, early 2000's metalcore that has aged terribly, but yesterday while roadtripping to STL in the wifes car I found an old cd book while getting gas at QuikTrip (y'all don't know how good you have it). I popped in Poison The Well - The Opposite of December and heartily jammed that mofo back home. Blast from my past.
