A thread to talk about some of the things we've bought and are really happy with. The end. Or the beginning.

We've been using grocery delivery, and there have been substitutions on occasion. I ordered a brownie mix, and they substituted this gluten free mix. I don't need gluten free stuff, but whatever.

We baked the brownies, and they may be the best food that has ever touched my mouth. We've since ordered them two more times and they're on our permanent list. My wife loves them as well.

This is a pretty specific thing, but we're all locked down and bored, and I enjoyed the eff out of it this past weekend.

A while back, I bought a couple of graters, Cuisipro Accutec.

I use the coarse grater pretty regular for cheese, but never really used the fine much.

Decided to make scratch carrot cake, and the coarse grinder was great for grinding fresh carrot. Did a pound in about 2 minutes. But the fine really shone, grinding fresh nutmeg from nut, and fresh cinnamon from bark.

I love carrot cake, but have always been intimidated by how rich and complex it looked, like I would try to make it and make a total mess without a great result. But this could not have been easier, nearly as easy as a box mix.

We got the Ninja Foodi and it's essentially an instant pot with a crisper.

Frozen chicken wings from start to finish that end w/ nice crisp skin in about 10 minutes. Damn nice when I feel like going home for lunch. Makes really good breakfast potatoes/casseroles as well.

Spaghetti is surprisingly good in it, just using the basic instapot features on it. Have only had 1 real miss and that was the mac and cheese recipe it came with. Tried a different one as well and ultimately there's just no benefit to be found there. It makes veggies a little softer than I prefer so I just roast them instead.

Ultimately you combine that guy with my Breville toaster oven and a single-station induction top I got for tailgates and I can pretty much cook anything without using my stove/top at all. If that thing went out on me, I could do a full thanksgiving dinner without batting an eye.

The wife and I have been looking at those at Sam's Club they are big but it would eliminate a Cuisinart electric pressure cooker that has been rock solid and a Gormia 6 qt air fryer that is so so. Every air fryer I have had the Teflon coated basket starts peeling and is not worth replacing. The Ninjas are 30 dollars off now at Sams. 160 for the Foodi tendercrisp 6.5 qt or 170 or Foodi roast grill bake. I can also get the Foodi deluxe XL 8 qt with a 20% off coupon for 190 at Bed Bath Beyond. Only the BBB has to be shipped because they are closed nationwide afraid of the rona.

Which one you rocking I just wonder if the Deluxe xl is worth it honestly.

I was looking for a new weed trimmer and saw this electric one from Ryobi:

I thought fuck it, it uses the same batteries as the one for my drill and Miter Saw so I'll try it out. This little thing is awesome! Lighter than my old gas power craftsman. Trimmed and edged just as well as it did too on a battery!

That's the one we got; did the same thing with the 20% off coupon at BBB. Then we used our Discover Card money to purchase gift-cards that are something like pay $20 and get $25 when you use your cash-back rewards to purchase them. So at that point you can 'double dip' the discount because one of them is coming from Discover and being loaded onto gift cards, the other from BBB via the coupon.

We have 3 kids so we got the big one just to be safe. Honestly, sometimes it's still a little on the small side. The problem is that the round shape just doesn't yield as much usable surface area for some things. Works great for casseroles and such but you can crowd it pretty quickly if you're trying anything bigger.

I just didn't know what I'd need to I wasn't gonna risk ending up with a useless appliance to save $100. I got the biggest we could get to give the whole idea as good a chance to succeed as possible.

They make a trim nailer now that's actually pretty damn good. I saw a carpenter using one and without having to lug the compressor/hose around, he was just flying through trim work.

I haven't had an excuse to buy one, but man I'm looking for a reason.

I'm fully bought into the 40V Ryobi ecosystem at this point - lawn mower, weed eater, hedge trimmer, and leaf blower. It's super convenient to have them all use the same battery so that if you forget to charge one up, you have plenty of spares. I have a small yard, so the mower gets through 2-3 mows per charge. Probably the best thing is no gas, oil, winterizing, etc.
