Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?
Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? [Reply]

All he needs is a good optic and some backup iron sights and he's good to go.
We had a pretty big discussion on optics a couple of weeks ago when Vail was looking for a rifle. Suffice to say, DON'T CHEAP OUT ON OPTICS.
Speaking of that, what do you think about this one for the AR?
1.5-4 seem like a workable view? I’m trying for a combo of acquiring target quickly (red dot) and 100-yard capability (scope).

You ever do a zip code search to see who is close by you?
Honestly, I haven’t. I have never purchased a firearm online. I am not necessarily opposed to it, I have just never had a need to.
And my interest is purely personal; I’m not interested in facilitating gun purchases (though I am well beyond being against it). I am mostly interested in myself and, maybe, some immediate family and the closest and most trusted of friends that live within my AO (whatever that is, which is something else I’d like to learn about). What is the optic for? That one is okay probably for general purpose stuff, maybe even some hunting applications. For HD type stuff i'd probably go for a red dot of some kind. [Reply]

Yes. That's pretty much identical to the one I have. It has a red dot, and dialed down to 1.5 it will function the same as a regular red dot only optic. The best of both worlds.
Guns and Ammo-
These items values follow precious metals. Inflation and uncertainty.
You really can find whatever you want right now. It is all about the Benjamin's.
I believe what you can buy today at perceived inflated prices will be considered a value in the near future. If you want it/need it- buy it NOW. [Reply]

Definitely noted on the scope/optics.
I think the only other thing I'll look for other than sights/scope is a possible tac grip for under the rail, that's it. I can get more clever possibly down the road the more comfortable I get with the rifle. [Reply]

Just remember: with AR-15s (probably with AR-10 variants as well) lighter is better. Don't go all in on accessories and rails because they look cool or you'll end up with something that weighs a lot more than is comfortable. Unless you decide to go in for long-range precision shooting, weight is always the enemy.
Oh, and no matter what anyone tells you, single point slings suck. Double or three point slings are the way to go. [Reply]
So I go to the friends of NRA charity even here every year.. always spend a bunch of money, take home nothing in all the raffles etc. I dont mind its for a good cause.
The other night I played a hundred dollar raffle and won this bad boy
gonna throw my sig romeo 5 red dot on it tomorrow and take it to the range, but likely going to go something like the vortex 3x magnifier + EOtech* holo sight.
Cant beat an 1800 dollar gucci AR for a hundred bucks, so I can afford a nice optic set up for it~ [Reply]

I looked for the next gen of the one you suggested and this is it. I’m going to try to look through a couple to get a feel for the reticle before I buy, if I can. Thanks for turning me on to LPVOs. [Reply]

Thanks to frazod, BAWAN, and Raiderhader for slow walking me through this, and thanks to Megatron96 for finding the deal. I'm excited to get this in a few weeks. I owe you all drinks of your choice.
Now, to go look for ammo.....

I'll defer to the guys that know more than me, but I have a AR-15 with scope and an AR-9 with a red dot.
I've never used a scope like you've linked and Fraz is using, but a lot of times the time taken in target acquisition matters. ESPECIALLY in an HD situation.
But like I said, I'm far from an expert.
I'd type the model number into YouTube and you can typically get a review. [Reply]

Bowser if you havn't found a FFL James Country Mercantile in Liberty square is my go to. He is 20.00 transfer fee. That place is pretty interesting place also. Most the gun shops are 40 to 50 bucks and Pawn shops anywhere in between.
