He played under his rookie contract for four years at approximately 1 million per year.
He was then franchise tagged his fifth year at 12 million.
He gave them 5 years, some of them all-pro years at a hair over 3 million per year. WTF was he supposed to do? Take the horrible contract offer from Pittsburgh with no guaranteed money? Play another year under the Franchise Tag with no future guarantees?
