He’s .210/.290/.410 in the second half, so it will be interesting to see how he handles a repeat of Wilmington. He’ll either adjust and improve or stall out.

Another thing to consider about Matias and Melendez is that they are only 20 years old and Hicklen is 23 and it's the 2nd season he's been there.
Now if Melendez and Matias do the same thing next year, then I'd say it's pretty safe to say they are non prospects.
I think they’ll still get something out of 1/3 of them. Pratto gets attention because he was a first-round pick and had a strong second half last year (.912 OPS).
All three will get a chance to sink or swim next year. I think they’ll repeat levels.
One thing I’ve heard fairly often re Pratto is that he takes a lot of strike 3s looking that are not actually strikes. If true, that part of his K rate would diminish as he ascends levels, as the quality of umpire improves. [Reply]
And our bullpen is still horrible. Barnes gives up 1 in the 8th inning and Kennedy gives up 4 in the 9th and the game is tied. Blew an 8-3 lead. [Reply]

Should have traded Kennedy for a Top 100 prospect and eaten some of that ‘sunk cost’ when we had the chance.
Now we’re left with the pile of wasted $$$ that is Ian Kennedy for this season and next. Yea.

Thanks, Glass.
They can still do that this offseason. There is also no guarantee that the Royals spend that money when Kennedy is gone so I wouldn't get your panties in a bunch about how much Kennedy is getting paid. [Reply]

Yeah, I’m sure a 30 year old closer making $16.5 million and coming off a season in which he posted a nearly 4 ERA (after this performance) will be super in demand. Teams will be lining up to deal top prospects for him.
My point was they COULD have gotten a top 100 prospect prior to the trade deadline that could have maybe helped the team a few years down the road, if Glass was willing to eat some money. He wasn’t, so fuck him. And fuck Ian Kennedy. [Reply]
