To her credit, the Super Bowl is based on performance grades, so presumably she's been doing a nice job.
Yeah, I see no way she didn't earn it.
It's a big gamble by the NFL. She screws up a major call, people are going to scream that she didn't earn the spot on the SB ref crew. They have to know she's ready and the other refs have accepted her.
And why not? Why cant a woman do just as good of a job? It's not a physical job. [Reply]
She's going to be the Down Judge, right? Pretty safe role for her in her first SB. Sort of surprised she hasn't done one before, considering she's been in the league 5 years? Really doesn't seem like she's been an NFL official that long. [Reply]

Yeah, down judge. And again, they slot in Super Bowl (and playoff) refs based on grades, so you really do have to be pretty good (by NFL standards) to get the assignment. [Reply]

right. I'm sure she'll be fine. If her first role as an official was going to be something like D-Field Judge or whatever, that might expose her to more possible fan nonsense, but DJ is a good starting point. She'll be fine. [Reply]

Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes cleared certain steps Monday, “some big steps”, but he remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol with what is considered a concussion and it’s too early to say that he definitely will play in Sunday’s conference championship vs. the Bills, per sources.
