Media Center>Avengers (4) End Game - SPOILER FREE THREAD
keg in kc 04:15 PM 04-28-2019
It might pass Avatar, but Titanic is a tall order. Especially for a summer flick. There wasn't anything else going on when those two were in theaters. Whereas Pokemen is likely to make some bank in two weeks. Then it's John Wick 3, which I don't expect to be huge necessarily, but it'll bite into potential repeat Endgame viewers. And then it's Aladdin.

Among other things, there wasn't much competition back then.

This. People didn’t have near the amount of entertainment options either.

There was a lot of insomnia in 1939, but zzzquil hadn't been invented yet. So Gone With The Wind was prescribed a lot.

Having a world war probably didn't hurt people's desire to be distracted either...

It was one of the first major studio movies in color. Had a major hit playing 20 times a day on the radio. Wasn't a pleasant time in America. The movie was pure escapist entertainment in its day.

BTW, Avengers passes $2 Billion globally in 11 days.
