No players were disciplined by Major League Baseball in the Astros' investigation. While Mets manager Carlos Beltran was part of it, he was a player at the time and thus was not suspended.
Discipline for Red Sox manager Alex Cora is coming. It is going to be harsh, per sources.

That's the sort of financial hit that the entirety of baseball, not just the Houston Astros, would not be able to recover from.
A post season ban of the Astros wouldn’t kill baseball. You have fans out there right now that are supporting the team and their opinion is “so what....we cheated”. Pretty sure those fans would still be buying tickets to see the regular season games. [Reply]

It would create a huge issue though of telling those fans those games don't matter. Baseball already has an attendance and popularity problem especially with young people.
Hence why Manfred is trying to make it the NBA. [Reply]
The "piece of metal" comment told me all I need to know about what the Astros and the MLB think of their Championship. The funny thing is that the Astros intentionally tanked, similar to us, but couldn't do what we did in back to back years, so they had to cheat to get to where we got to. Makes me proud of the Royals even more so. [Reply]
Forgive me guys but I'm more of a football guy... But I have a question... Hasn't sign stealing been going on for ages in baseball anyway??? I know it wasn't to this extent but I think it's been around for awhile... Right? Cheating to get a Championship is wrong anyway you do it. [Reply]

Using technology to do it is the issue here. [Reply]

it would be like someone telling a defense in football exactly what play you are running every play using a microphone thats that head coach can hear in real time. [Reply]
If anyone thinks that the Astros are the only team with an elaborate sign stealing scheme I have bad news for you...they got busted but this shit is pervasive in baseball. [Reply]

Go ahead and name all the ones using live video and a wireless communications system to do so. [Reply]
