Can't get it up here north of the border but, through a wine distributer I am able to order a case. Would like to hear from someone who knows their stuff and has tried it before I order.

My first experience with Blanton's was why is this so sought after? In subsequent trials, it's got to be the bottle it's not that good to be so hard to find.
Pappy's is good I like it ok. But I have bottles and much more reasonable price points I like better. I won't turn it down if offered though. :-) [Reply]
3 of us from work get together every 4 months or so at each other's place to have a whiskey tasting. This last Friday, it was at my friend's place. He had a Wild Turkey theme. He's got a ridiculous collection of stuff. The problem being once you've tried like 3 of them, all discipline goes out the window and you are just drinking whiskey. SO...I don't have much to report.
He DID have a bottle of 1988 Wild Turkey 101...that old label brought back memories of my dad...that was his favorite. He used to say "If it's good enough for President Johnson (LBJ) it's good enough for me!"
We also sampled some more modern offerings from Wild Turkey. You just can't go wrong with Jack Russel and his stuff...
A nice cigar and some top shelf whiskey day drinking...what a great day it was! [Reply]

I don't mind it. I got a bottle of their BiB, and it's also fine. I find whiskey in that price point is great, because you can mix it, drink it straight or cut it with a little water and not feel bad about it at all. [Reply]

I'm not sure I'd describe it as "awesome", per se. It's definitely an enjoyable bourbon though. Good job Mrs GloryDayz
Somewhat related - has anyone tried any of the Doc Swinson's line of bourbons/whiskeys? I was gifted a bottle and went through it pretty quickly. I enjoyed it that much. Now I'm on the hunt for more, but can't seem to track any down in the KC area. [Reply]

Cool, I'll make sure I bring an ice tray and maybe add a splash of water. [Reply]

It's common for something like Eagle Rare to be marked up to $100 or more, and that's if you can even find it on the shelf ever. Hell, Weller Special Reserve (the crap green bottle) is going for probably double MSRP. And again, that's only if you can actually find one.
I remember being able to buy that at Hy-Vee for $29.99. [Reply]

I am fortunate to have a connection that can get me Blanton's and nearly any other bottle at almost any time. I keep some at my house, including some of their limited ones, and almost never drink it because I don't really think it's that great relative to how tough it is to get. But people know the Blanton's name and get so excited when I offer them some so I always make sure to keep it in stock. I think if you can find it at MSRP it's a fine bourbon but around here good luck finding it for less than 100 if you can even find it at all. [Reply]

There are a couple of stores in Lawrence that sell it right at $65 if and when they have it. Limit 1 bottle. As you said, it's a perfectly fine bourbon at that price.
Like you, I also have a connection that can get me about whatever bottle I want, as long as I'll pay for it. I have a friend that LOVES Blantons and is perfectly happy pay $110/bottle for it. I don't get it, but to each their own. [Reply]
