Can't get it up here north of the border but, through a wine distributer I am able to order a case. Would like to hear from someone who knows their stuff and has tried it before I order.
My wife had the night off so just got home from Price Chopper as she needed some things for Dad's Day dinner. I milled around in the liquor department. Low and behold the fabled WT Rare Breed cask strength was on the shelf 2 bottles. I grabbed one then I saw Old Overholt rye BIB and another new one Ezra Brook's 99 both on sale both at 20 bucks each. The Wife said one bottle so RB it was.
So when got home I cracked it open and poured one neat. My first impression was smooth super sweet thick and oily with a late bite kick. The finish was ok but not lasting. Not disappointing but for the price have had much better. This is just a first impression good but I expected more. [Reply]
Sippin’ on a little Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight tonight. I feel taken advantage of though. It is not uncommon to see this sell for around $60, but don’t buy it at that price because it can be had in the $40 range or even slightly less if you poke around the various liquor stores. And $40 is what I paid today. But at the next stop as I was looking for a rum I still hadn’t found I saw Yellowstone for $25. I visibly recoiled when I saw it, feeling a little sick over having already bought my bottle. I’ve never seen it at that price before. I know where I’ll be going next time I want more of it though.
