The list of Semifinalists, which also was announced live today on NFL Network, was reduced from an initial group of 130 nominees announced in September. The next step in the Selection Process comes when the Semifinalists are trimmed to 15 Modern-Era Finalists. That list increases to 18 Finalists with the inclusion of the recommended nominees of the Hall of Fame’s Coach, Contributor and Senior Committees: Tom Flores, Bill Nunn and Drew Pearson, respectively.

The Class of 2021 will be determined and announced during the week leading up to Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Fla. While there is no set number for any class of enshrinees, the Bylaws for the Selection Committee provide that between four and eight new members will be selected.

The Coach Finalist, Contributor Finalist and Senior Finalist are voted “yes” or “no” for election at the annual selection meeting and must receive at least 80% support from the Committee to be elected. The Modern-Era Finalists will be trimmed during the meeting from 15 to 10, then from 10 to five. The remaining five finalists will be voted on individually, “yes” or “no,” and must receive the same 80% positive vote as the Coach, Contributor and Senior Finalists to earn election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2021 will be enshrined Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021 in Canton as part of the 2021 Enshrinement Week Powered by Johnson Controls. Other events during the week of festivities will include the rescheduled Hall of Fame Game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 5, the Gold Jacket Dinner on Aug. 6 and the Centennial Class of 2020 Enshrinement on Aug. 7. My list is better, but this one is reasonably okay given what their initial list was.

The six who should get in from this list are:

Peyton Manning - His Colts body of work overpowers all of the negative stuff he had with the broncos and he gets in.

Torry Holt - Greatest show on turf and I like his funny finger.

Ronde Barber - He was almost as good as Albert Lewis, so he deserves it.

Charles Woodson - Raider. Whatever. He was okay. Deron Cherry deserves it far more, but I'll get Woodson out of the way so Cherry can get discussed.

Jared Allen - He's not legitimate a first-ballot guy, but looking at the list I think he gets in.

Clay Matthews, Sr. - He's borderline, and I feel like he's more of a "stats through longevity" guy than a great player, and I generally dislike those. But looking at the list, I think he should make it.

You and I both. Of the 4 members of the Saints Dome Patrol he was the most important guy. Wild to think he was only 5’9.

Allen getting in is par for the course. They let damn near anyone in.

My picks:

▫️Peyton Manning - Was the best QB the league has ever seen for most of his career, sure thing
▫️Charles Woodson - Tied for 5th all-time in interceptions (65) and tied for 5th all-time in non-offensive TDs.
▫️Jared Allen - Number 12 all-time in sacks
▫️Zach Thomas - 5th all-time in combined tackles in the NFL.
▫️Alan Faneca - 6 times All-Pro, 9 time Pro Bowler, one of the best guards I've ever seen
▫️Ronde Barber - One of the best tackling DBs in NFL history (top-5 IIRC), 4th all-time in non-offensive TDs, and 47 career Ints (tied for 47th).

I like Jarad for HOF but leaving his bar unfinished? Not so much

I hate Payton, my friend has a kid named Payton, I sat hello to his Saint Bernard, Bob, first so I can rub the slober on him.

Possibly the most homer thing I've ever seen posted anywhere, and I've frequented Raider boards for 25+ years.

Dang man. I thought much, much better of you.

In no way shape or form does Allen deserve to be in the HoF. He is the Matt Stafford of defensive ends, just tons and tons of meaningless stats.
