With the way this offense scores I'm concerned Butker is going to be overworked and have a short career because of this. Was it a mistake to sign him to a long term contract??
In 2018 this is what he had to do:
87 Kick offs
69 extra point attempts
27 FG attempts
Thats 183 times he had to swing that leg. 11.4 Times per game.
If Mahomes and company match or exceed last year I just think he's gonna be worn out.
I'm worried about him too. That adorable little dorky kicker face of his looks very lonely and needs the companion of a real man like me to comfort him in the dorm bed in a very not gay way! [Reply]
My primary concern about Butker is related to his tendency to miss crucial field goals at critical times.
Toub never says anything which probably means he doesn't want to disturb or erode Butker's confidence, but I'm not sure I'll ever forgive the scrawny bastard for missing the FG in the Tacks game.
It's a kicker... if he gets wore out kicking PATs we just go for 2.
If his accuracy declines to a point where it's a higher percentage to just go for it than we go for it.
A kicker wearing out is never an issue, a kicker losing accuracy is the issue [Reply]

Thoughts?
Swinging your leg 11.4 times a game isn't going to wear you down. As another poster mentioned Butker swings his leg more times every day during practice.

KC was up 21-10 late in the 3rd and it was a 48 yard FG that BARELY missed.
It wasn't really a crucial kick at a critical time.
That's the FG he MADE in the AFC championship. The critical game tying FG at the end of regulation that sent the game to OT. That was a 'must make'.
