Media Center>Greatest movie franchises of all time
DaFace 02:46 PM 04-03-2019
With Endgame on the horizon, I started thinking about how the MCU compares to the other great franchises over the years. So...what are the best ones of all time? We'll generate a giant list then put it through a Rain Man style poll series in the Lounge (probably seeded by box office or something like that).

Here's the current list:

Matrix, yeah, how'd I forget that one?

Also, Smokey and the Bandit

Toy Story would have to be near the top

There's lots more. These are just the ones I can think of off the bat.
Kurosawa's "30 year old chamelia blossom" (Yojimbo/Sanjuro) is shot better and serves as the basis for that S.L. franchise in addition to Last Man Standing.

Yojimbo is much more iconic too. Kenobi hacking off an arm in SW:ANH is a re-creation of Yojimbo slicing up the yukuza outside Ushitora's gambling den.

Hmm. I thought Yohimbo was a stand-alone movie, not a franchise? I could be wrong though . . .

Footnote: I think #3 should count.

Excellent inclusion.

The Thin Man would be the other Golden Era franchise.

So my suggestions are worthless? Otiose and invalid? Meritless and nugatory? Is that what we've come to around here? Have we evolved an entirely new breed of prejudiced, discriminatory mods now? I ask you ... must I cry "Mod Abuse" to the skies?

I mean, if this becomes a poll, fine. Nobody has to vote for my ideas. Nor would I be offended if they didn't. But to exclude them entirely from the list of potentials is ... well ... it's vintage movie bias and prejudicial stereotyping of black and white classical era cinema. That's what it is.

Did Mr. DaFace say, "Only suggest movies that were made in the last 30 years and in color and with actors who are alive and use CGI effects."? No. No, he didn't. He said, "... other great franchises over the years ..." That's what he said, and my submissions meet that criteria.
