I love Mitchell Schwartz and I love how good he has been for this team for the last several years, but so far it seems being on the wrong side of 30 may have caught up to him. I didn't get to watch much of the Raiders game, so I checked out the All-22 and just finished the 1st quarter and Schwartz is getting his ass kicked more often than not.
I think he may have lost a step or 2 since last year, because the pass rusher is just blowing right around him and he doesn't seem quick enough in his drop step to get in front of and engage the pass rusher (This isn't about Patrick Mahomes dropping too far back in the zone). Schwartz just isn't playing anywhere near as good as he should.
Maybe he is injured or he's trying to do too much because of the inefficiency of the middle of the line, but it's a bad sign. If I could remember how to embed I would post gifs of what I was talking about. [Reply]

Just because he's played great in the past doesn't mean it's automatic that it will continue.
Like you mentioned in a previous thread, the entire oline has been 'not so good'. Couple that with CEH missing quite a few cutback lanes on inside zone and a few timely dropped passes, and this offense sputters out. Really could use Dr. LDT right about now. [Reply]

I don't know how long it has been bothering him but he's looked slower off the snap all year. In fact, he gave up a couple of pressures very early in the Texans game and has looked a bit "off" ever since.
I was wondering if anybody else has seen this. I agree, his movement has been slower, as if he's unsure of his footing when he sets up to block. [Reply]

Unrelated. If hes unsure of his ankling then it would be related to the ankle tape. [Reply]
Mitchell Schwartz sucking has been my biggest concern of anything we've seen so far this year. The Chiefs seem to be comfortable with having a mediocre to bad interior OL, but we can't run our offense if the tackles stink. [Reply]

Agreed, but still he isn't the same guy that's he's been up until this year. Schwartz used to be out best Oline, hand's down. Now Fisher and Schwartz are about the same. [Reply]

Since you played football, I trust your analysis 100% [Reply]

A clue from his Twitter timeline.
Alright y'all want to do this. I'll play along.
The ball is snapped on the 32. The LDE over the RT runs around the corner at the 21 yard line. That's 11 yards. The QB is supposed to drop no more than 10, and even that's pushing it. Then climb the pocket. The pocket is clean https://t.co/FSlCkwSQT8
