The #Chiefs are hiring Steve Spagnuolo as their new defensive coordinator, sources say. The former #Giants DC and interim HC/#Rams HC began his NFL coaching career as an #Eagles assistant under Andy Reid. Now rejoins Big Red in KC.

Remember watching the Ravens give our offense fits last year at Arrowhead and envying their aggressive approach. Was hoping Spags would do the same thing they did and goddamn have they.
Love the ballsy blitz packages. Love that they are now trying to dictate what the offense does instead of sitting back and reacting.
We keep stopping the run and play like this, we are going to fist the Patriots. [Reply]

It was like a switch was flipped for the Denver game. Until then it had been a lot of base coverage, standard man-man, 4-man rush and soft zone. And we couldn't stop the run for shit.
Enter the Denver game and it was like an entirely different defense all the way around. Yes we are blitzing more and getting some good pressure even with a 4 man rush but 2 of the biggest difference I have see are:
1. Assignment discipline
2. Violent tackling
We are playing our assignments better across the board and we are fucking hitting guys. We are stuffing the run and blasting fuckers in the open field.
I don't remember the last time we forced 8 punts with Mahomes as the QB. Indy playoffs maybe or the Cinci game?
You force 8 punts in a game with a healthy Mahomes and Reek and shit is about to get nasty. [Reply]

Don't see how whether he's in his third or fourth year is really relevant to my comments, the point being he's still a young player, but okay, thanks I guess. [Reply]
Not that any front 7 players has been bad really the past 3 weeks but I think Hitchens deserves props. Outside of the big TD when he was matched up with Aaron Jones in coverage, he’s been really solid. Seems to be playing disciplined and getting into gaps before he’s blocked more consistently.
Again, all goes back to superior coaching. [Reply]
Since the Denver game, these guys have played faster and been more effective. They’ve been greatly improved at getting off blocks and playing with increased awareness.
It’s fun to watch this young defense mature.
If the defense can give us that kinda play the rest of the year, we’re gonna win it all. [Reply]
